    Hi:

My dealer wants $1100 CDN. to install these.

    Seems high.

Since I am about an hour from the border I think I should be able to save some serious coin if I visit NY for a better deal.

    All feedback welcome!

    Thanks!

I just put mine on myself and it was simple enough. Took about 3 hours. Directions were slightly confusing as it was a little tough to figure out what bolts and nuts to keep and which to reuse. With a little mechanical knowledge though you should have no problems.

    Hi VFR02rider:

Can I ask you what you paid for your cases?

    Thanks!

I purcahsed by bags when i went to pick up the bike from the dealer. They took 20% off list and told me that they would have to order. When they checked stock however they had a set someone else had purchased but never paid for. They were going to have to return these so they knocked another 5% off. I think total was right around $780. Right place, right time.

Hey xShadowrider there is a bit of use full info here as well: http://wiki.vfrworld.com/index.php/Hard_Luggage

I think if you play your cards right you could get a set for around $800 give or take tax from a dealer. Some have even purchased less than that.

    Thanks Jason!

I will check the site and start pricing out cases for a better deal.

Are you riding out there yet? I remember when I lived on the North Shore my riding season started at least 5 weeks ahead of the rest of the country. It's -20 with the wind chill today and there's still 30cms on the ground. It's beginning to feel like the ****ing Prairies!:frown:

Think I'll start riding in a couple of weeks. We had a nice glimpse of the sun the past few days with a high of 12. Have my MSF course starting in two weeks as well. Been working on getting my insurance costs down. -20? ouch, 30cm even bigger ouch.

lots of pictures in my gallery. some just like the sides, I like to commute with the topcase. Key to install is just keep everything loose until you get all the nuts and bolts started. There are some other threads on the install and a couple other places to look for the factory hardbags for less.

feel free to PM me with questions if you're afraid to ask. If I can't answer I'll repost them for you

Other than the 1 1/2 months that there was snow on the grond, I rode in from Chilliwack to Surrey every morning, on the freeway by 03:00 AM. Some say I'm nuts. HMMMMM!

If you've not bought the cases yet it might be worth checking DSS in the uk.
They're selling bags in silver and red for £175 (about $350Canadian). Even with shipping that works out pretty cheap.

I got the cases of my dealler in Norhtern Ireland for the list price on the honda uk website at the time there where £550 (still think they are) I got them and fitted them myself (how ever our honda deallers over hear have to fit them for free as the price you pay includes fitting)

On my new VFR800a I got a great deal Honda uk have a deal and a half

Buy a new XL1000VA Varadero, VFR800A, NT700VA Deauville or CB1300SA between 1st October 2007 and 31st March 2008 and get a Free Accessory Pack. Subject to availability, Terms and conditions apply. Please ask a salesperson for further details...

The VFR 800a Comes with hard top box, sports rack and Side boxs...Saving me about £1000

Does just having the Top Case on (and loaded) make the bike top heavy?

I bought a set of Corbin saddle bags (soft style) and do not really like how they strap on and would prefer hard bags but the cost just seems WAY high for what you get

Does the cost of the hard saddles come with all the necessary mounting hardware or is that an additional cost?

Truthfull i've not sat my ass on my bike yet mate as my legs in plaster lol Howevey i've had just the top box on my XL125V Varadero a few years back and it was very top heavy (when loaded) so much so that when I passed my test and changed it for my CBF 600n I didn't bother with the top box and just had the side boxs.

I'll be takin the top box and sports reck off as soon as my legs better trust me, ive sat on the vfr 800 before buying it at the thing seams to be very very heavy.... the last think I need with to bad legs is to add more lol.

If you buy the top box of Honda you have to buy the sports rack as well (Top box RRP £200.00, then must be combined with rear carrier RRP £150.00)

The spec on the pannier kit of the HONDA UK site....

    Pannier kit (35L)
    08L52 MCW 850 Digital Silver (NH-A30M)
    08L52 MCW 870 Pearl Cosmic Black (NH-A64P)
    08L52 MCW 890 Candy Glory Red (R-101C-U)
    Fitting Time 0.9 hrs I RRP £600.00
    • set of specially designed, aerodynamic and fully
    integrated 35L panniers
    • produced in matching colour
    • each pannier can contain one full-face helmet
    • pannier stays included
    • additional lock barrel and spare keys included

    hope that helps you m8

Marc... just curious, how much did the topcase-loaded weigh as a percentage of the 125? vs. the VFR (heavy 800cc). I'm guessing a topcase has much less effect on the VFR.

 I am sorry I did not understand what you wrote.

I thought when you typed,"I'll be takin the top box and sports reck off as soon as my legs better trust me" that you would indeed take the top box and rack off before you ever rode with them on the bike.

I was trying to be helpful and encourage you :thumb: to think about riding with them on once before you went through the trouble of taking them off. Again, did not mean to insult you, or even indicate you were a minor diety.

My fat butt and short legs can not tell if the top case or side cases are on the bike when I'm riding  unless I see the topcase in the mirror when changing lanes.

    Happy healing.

xShadowrider, the install on the cases is quite simple and takes about 1.5 hrs. to do. Like the others said, just leave everything loose, once all the bolts are in place, then start tightening it. I bought my vfr used, and it came with the bags, and the brackets. The previous owner had never installed them, so i got to do it.

nozzle, how does the bike run with a top case on the back? i've heard it can cause some wind drag and make the front feel light. Was thinking of getting one for more room one long trips with the old lady on the back.
