id just like to take this oppertunity to say hello to all the vfr world members ive been riding the same 98 vfr 800fi for the last 4 years. i keep promising myself something different but what? the viffer can do the lot and more. i'm a current member of the UK vfr club and found it very informative, however i think joining this club would shine a broader light on any questions or queeries i may put to you

welcome i agree about the vfr id a 99 for 8years and didnt know what to change to apart from another vfr

 

Hi Foz, wellcome to the V4 brotherhood, wellcome to VFRWorld!

 

Ive Rode Many Other Bikes Inc Yamaha R1, R6 Hondas Blackbird And The Fire Blade Rr. All Very Good Fun However My 98 Vfr 800fi Suits Me, But It Has Had Its Problems, Ive Replaced The Expected R/r, But What I Didnt Expect Was The Gearbox To Fail. I Had Just Give The Bike A Good (fairing Off) Clean, It Looked Like New, Took It Out For A Run With My Mate Went To Drop It Down Into 3rd For A Bend And It Was If The Pixies Had Broke Into My Gearbox And Stole Third Gear, It Had Gone, The Engine Still Sweet As A Nut,1st, 2nd 4th And 5th All Fine But No Third. After A Couple Of Estamates To Repair, Around £550 / $1000 I Decided To Replace The Full Unit, It Was My First Mechanical Diy Job I Found It Interesting And On Completion Quite Rewarding Having A Greater Knowledge Of The Workings And Structure Of The V4 The Newer 2001 Unit Slotted In Like A Dream And The Bike Shead 20,000 Miles Over Night (saying That The Bike Performed And Sounded Exactly The Same) Do Any Of You Lads Have Any Stories Of The Viffer 3rd Gear Disapearing Trick, Id Like To Know Its Not Just Me
