I'm new to this site but am looking at a 03 Interceptor with 30k miles on it. It's in good condition and they are asking $4,900. My question is this: Are 30k miles too many and does this sound like a fair price. They guy at the dealership said you could put 100k miles on this bike but I don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

30K is indeed a lot of miles, but Interceptors can handle them much better than most bikes. His comment about 100K on an Interceptor is accurate. If it was a Ducati, I would definitely advise against it, but if it's in really good shape and you feel confident that maintenance was done on a regular basis, then I wouldn't rule it out. That definitely is a great price! Let us know how it turns out.

VFR engine easily good for 100k

You'll grow tired of bike long before you wear it out if you just do routine maintenance:biggrin:

Britians long distance courier put 850,000 miles on a 1990 VFR. 440,000 on the first engine and 415,000 on the second engine. He said he changed oil every Friday with the cheapest oil he could find.

According to that article, your bike you are considering is just broken in.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to seriously consider this bike since it sounds as if it can go for many more miles.

    Good deal

If that bike was taken care of and not dropped, that sounds like a very good price to me. I bought a 98 just recently for not a whole lot less than that with the same mileage, but the guy who had it took meticulous care of it. It looks absolutely showroom. Plus it already had the add-ons I wanted.

You can't go too far wrong at that price especially if you have any kind of maintenance history or warranty with it. You don't hear about too many mechanical issues on any VFR forum, in fact I think that is why the forum is sooo quiet! Try owning an Audi, then you'll have something to discuss almost every day. BTDT :smow: It takes agreat deal to hurt one of these bikes, besides crashing of course.
