Well today I had the :frown: "pleasure" to have a rear flat tire. I pulled in to work at 6 am. At 10 am I was told that my bike has a flat tire. Called HRCA - 10 minutes waiting but 20some minutes later bike was on a tow-truck and in the way to my "home" delalership 30 miles away. HRCA - paid for itslef for the next 2 years - great and fast service...will renew when comes around again two hours and $260 later I havw a Metzener 6 in the back with 10 miles on it... Rear tire had 4862 miles and could not be fixed.
Do you know if the MSF course reimbursement of HRCA is retroactive? I already took/finished the course, have my M endorsement and everything. If I were to join up, would they still give me the 75 dollars reimbursement? Sorry for the Hijack! Just thought you might know.
Glad to hear it worked out well! Boy to dealers rape people for tires/installation. I hereby announce I'll mount anytires for them - $20.00 a set
So i told this story once, but I was in northern canada, 5pm, on a friday, and my clutch welded itself together and commited suicide. HRCA had a tow truck to me in a few short minutes (with the help of a terrific shop owner and a couple nice french canadiens) and my bike was back in action with a new clutch the NEXT morning! All paid for by warrantee and HRCA. I didnt renew the warrantee, but I am going to renew with HRCA. Thats for sure.
Cool, I got mine just for the MSF refund, but it looks like it is a good idea to keep it around. Thanks.
Honda Riders Club of America. Check out their web site for all they offer. Lots of stuff for riders of all types.
I don't think HRCA will reimburse for past classes taken. I haad to turn my receipt from class and copy of certificate from class within like 60 days to get my $75. I think the other benefits are well worth the membership dues as well. The Red Rider magazines, the free patches they sent me when I joined, the "lost key" program through hotels across the country, and the savings on various products, riding schools, hotels, etc.
Did the tire shred/rip? Is that why a simple plug would not work? Tell ya what, at least if I have a small puncture hole, my tire repair kit is worth its wait in gold. Already saved by ass way out in the boondocks!
No there was no more damage than a big 3 inch screw on the side. I probaly picked it up when turning as it was on the right side of the tire. The guys checked it out and said that need to be replaced.... I will get one of those fix it plug things and hope never to be used.
I learned, after riding 1000 miles on a rear tire I plugged myself, that only Dunlap has a patented method for repairing motorcycle tires. They do a bonding thing from the inside. The states that do yearly inspections on cars and bikes, like Penn., won't pass a bike with a plug in the tire. They're considered temporary because they aren't made like a car tire. That and the fact that you only have two tires. Even the mushroom plugs sold by moto dealerships are considered temporary. That said, I've only had two flats on a bike in 35 years of riding. But you know motorcycle tires, they wear out in a big damned hurry.
