You Canadians must be pretty hardcore riders to put up with that kind of insurance rates. I have two cars, an '05 WRX, a '74 Fiat 124, a '00 VFR and still pay about half of that. Sorry to rub it in, but DAMN!!!!

    12 - 15 km each way.

Most definately! This is the best time when all the "wannabe" riders get a widdle chill and hop into their cages. This means even more cars on the road.

No. Textile jacket and trousers for winter though.

Normal route except for "those days" when the trip home "needs" to be longer...
    10. Lastly do you do this for enjoyment, money savings, or just because?
Pshycological reasons... I was going nuts in the cage...
Also saving time, more enjoyment, and... just because!

tonyfromla here I comute to work everyday in the spring, summer and fall. The winters in the NE are dangerous due to the snow and ice and sand. I have a tank bag and do carry rain gear just in case. And last I don't live too far from work and yes I will go for a spin if time allows. Tony

Do you use your bike to commute to work? Yes

    2. If so how far to you ride each way? 50 miles each way more if I take the twistiest way home
    3. How may days a week to you commute? 2 to 3 weather dependent. We never have 5 days in a row without rain
    4. What do you do for the stuff you carry back and forth? Tail Bag, Tank Bag, Backpack, Saddle Bags? I currently have an RKA expandable seat pack. It's only about 3 inches high when compacted but expanded will fit my overpants when it gets hot on the ride home. I am buying the Honda hard bags this spring.
    5. Do you wear the clothes you work in, get changed at work, or wear overpants, etc.? I wear overpants and a jacket.
    6. Do you commute in the winter as well as summer? No. It snows and rains ice here in the winter.
    7. If so do you use heated gear?
    8. Do you carry a rain suite with you all the time? No but I do get caught in an occasional shower when the forecast called for minimum chance of precip. I plan to start carrying one when I get my bags.
    9. Do you take your normal route you take when you drive or an alternative route for some reason? Normal route mostly but alternate more entertaining routes sometimes.
    10. Lastly do you do this for enjoyment, money savings, or just because.

Riding is more fun than driving. Money savings is just a bonus.
