I finally had a chance to put some miles on my 98 yesterday and it was great. But the bike pulls too hard (tries to loft the front wheel if shifted hard into 2nd) and it seems like the speedo is reading higher than I'm going. I suspect that at some point the sprockets have been changed (dropped a tooth on the front). Does anyone know what the stock gearing on a 98 is? My shop manual has not arrived yet or I would just look it up. Other than that I'm more than satisfied with the bikes performance and ergos. The wife says that she misses the Corbin we had on the 91 so I guess I will start to look for a sargeant.
The bike should lift the front wheel my stock 98 would carry the front wheel in first gear and if shifted hard from first to second would come up a little. The stock speedo is off on most bikes usually in the 5-8% range. Not saying you don't have a bigger rear or smaller front sprocket but it could be stock.
Well I took the time to have a looksee under the under the cover and she's runnin a 15 tooth sprocket which according to the fiche is two teeth short of the 17 it came stock with. I figured it was too much to be just speedo error so I'll get a 17 on order asap. Sure pulls like hell with a 15 on but it will be a PITA when cruising on the interstate.:drum:
