Okay I'm in the minority here. I like them! It shocks me how creative people can be. It wouldn't be something I would invest my money into but to see how far they can go is impressive.

I bet not many would own up to wearing a "Black Trans Am" jacket but they sold a lot of them. Is it any worse than a Nascar Jacket?

Oh no I bet I hit a nerve with that one.

Not alot of the stretched and lowered up here. But I do hate the look, seems pretty worthless to me. Plenty of posers and squids around though, and I despise them too.

I do. I like that stuff. It makes it at least look a little different from stock without dumbing buttloads of money at it.

I have those and the bar end fakers, too, oh and the tank ones, too...

    Me and my big mouth...

You know, I do have to give credit where credit is due. I have seen some clever mechanical design, and some exceptionally artistic creation on show bikes (and cars). It always comes down to personal taste, and personal risk assessment. Too much "over the top" is boring to look at, for me. The bike that two4one shows per the above quote is a bit too gaudy for my tastes, but it does look relatively safe to ride. Some of the others... don't.

My biggest gripe is that motor vehicles are inherently dangerous, particularly since drive-through fast-food and cell phones have come about. When you choose to ride a bike, you are already as a disadvantage. The only advantage you have is relatively high performance, on all fronts. When you compromise the performance, you compromise your surviveability (not sure if "surviveability" is a real word...).

Damn! There goes my blood pressure again! Deep breaths... Naagh, just kidding. To wrap it up... Well, I'll just stop typing now.:blah:

You pretty much summed up my reason for getting out. The intial bike with "only" chrome wheels still maintained both discs up front and all other sport riding equipment. Once you have to be afraid to ride it, it's no longer fun. Put it on a trailer and forget about it.

If you think that bike is gawdy, I have to find the other photos. You'll surely puke!

All in all it was fun while it lasted. I gained a great of experiencing wrenching on bikes. Everything from complete tear-downs and rebuilds to brake work, etc. No better way to learn than to do!

Last summer I had to pass these jerks (the other way) as I was coming home from work. They'd be leaving the bar gunning their engines so they could be heard a mile away and come screaming out of there in packs. It's so sad to see them wobbling from their starting position and then trying to make a u-turn to go home.

As a side note, does anyone else look at the 'leaners' oddly and wonder what is up? I mean the guys who while going straight are leaning half off their bike to one side or another. Not for a short bit to stretch or anything. I mean that's how they ride. What the hell is up with that?!?

    Hey BJ!

I forgot you are upstate, my sympathies you are closer to them than me! I heard the New Castle Couty Sheriffs had been sitting up the road and nailing them when they take off! LOL!

As far as the "leaners" as you like to call them. No, I have not seen that one yet:confused:

I am curious too what the hell that's all about?

If I had to lay some money on it, it probably has to do with some 'crew' or group they ride with, or they watched it on a rap video and want to look cool as Ice!

A friend of mine has an odd posture when riding the bike...looks like he's a bit off center and leaned to one side. As a rider its definitely noticeable when riding behind him, but I'm not sure non-riders would notice. I mentioned it to him and he says he feels like he's centered. Who knows...maybe one arm is much longer than the other. He's a newer rider (1yr).

I don't hate chromed, stretched, lowered bikes. I could care less, do whatever you want. Some care about handling, others care about looks. There's just a better chance of finding a jackass in the pilots seat of that type of bike.

    ZE GOGGLES!! ZEY DO NUTHINK!!!!

And now for responses to replies I'm too tired to quote:

"Survivability" is a word, assuming you spell it correctly.

Gixxers are legitimately very good bikes, but the ZOMG BUSA sorts and just the n00bs in general who worship them and the overly rich amongst those who proceed to ruin them with the stretch jobs and think they've improved the bike somehow have all led me to the motto: Suxzuki is for posers.

ETA: The only insight I can offer on the "leaners" is that it is admittedly amusing to lean way off one side of the bike and then keep it on a straight track while it's leaning opposite. Though, for me, personally, the novelty tends to wear off after no more than 20-30 seconds.

Kingsley: That is a shop. Pixels, seen, my time, shoop da whoop, etc etc.

Maybe it's a north Delaware thing, but my co-worker has also seen more than one person leaning as they rode. And I'm not talking a little, I mean over half off the seat to one side and even a cager would be able to notice.

who knows. as big as dfw is, id imagine theres something somewhere that would support this. it pains me that the coolest bike Suzuki has ever conceived seems to be the most popular platform for this molestation (the GSX1300R, of course)

i dont know that i HATE them outright, but i damned sure wouldnt own nor ride one.

one thing ive found is that the "gixxer" is easily the riced out honda civic of the sportbike world. every squidly-assed wannabe racer just HAS to have one.

I look at the bikes as light hearted entertainment, I like to see what others have done. But like some HD riders if the guys has the attitude hes still an asshole. You can be one on whatever you ride, no matter what the badge on the tank says.

I fellow track rider has a Gixxer 750. He's not gixxer fanatic either! He has it because in his words: "The GSXR's are the coachroach's of motorcycling. They are everywhere and I can find any part, and I mean any part, for sale!"

Not a bad idea if looking for a track bike. Very practical thinking.

Perhaps if the tracks were not so few and far between, and the races were aired during primetime, RIDING would be more popular. Proper RIDING requires too much practice, study, and improvement. In a society that embraces ignorance we will always be ahead, and the morons will always will be dragging us down. But, if every stretched and chromed bike rider had a real bike and went to the mountains all the time, there would be too much traffic and the fun spots would be "hot". Let em soak up the attention on the straight roads and keep the coppers busy, while us not so flashy guys prowl the back roads.

My definition of a track is something that has turns in BOTH directions.
My definition of races are events like Moto GP, Superbike, and the like.

I take offense to the wheelie hating. I enjoy using my bike and my skills to their utmost potential. My Superhawk loves wheelies. I don't do it in traffic, or near other people and cars. And I don't speed when I do it.

    Up on one...
