    Hey All,

I'm wondering if there are others out there that think they may paint their VFR's? Although I've only painted a few vehicles, I dont pretend to be an expert, but I can give a good high level overview of technics as well as good product. The reason I ask is that it'll be a bit of work to write it up but I'd be happy to post here if there's interest. Also, I'm sure there'll be a few of you who can add to my learnings too.

    Cheers,

    Wesley J

One is enough for me. I'll put it on my blog and then cut and paste the html here.

I'm spraying Friday night so expect something mid next week.

cool. we love to see new how-tos. Tori, another member, posted up some photos of painting his track bike the other day. I think it's under 'streets of willow' or something llike that.

I can post pictures of the RWB paint on the 25th Anniversary bike if you want to copy the fastest paint scheme that attracts the smokin-hot babes...

or was that the 5th gen red that was "smokin' hot"?

 Hell yea, new paint is always a Great DIY or BIY (buy it yourself)... What brand/color paint are you planning on using? Of course I'm a little partial.

As much as I love the look of my VFR now, I would love to incorporate some type of variant of this....

Wesley, that would be great for you to share. I'm shooting my 2 bikes right now. Gun Metal. My son is painting my 500 (for his Senior Project in High School) while I shoot the VFR. I'm half way there. Having trouble with the cold weather, so we are taking our sweet time.

    Hey Gents,

All went very well. Very little dust, only a few sags (most repaired), very little orange peel. Here are a few pics to wet your appetite, full write up to come ASAP. As you can see, my luggage matches.

Nice job. How did you deal with the OEM stickers (especally the Wing on the tank)? Did they peal or was sanding necessary?

I'll list every product from activator to sandpaper grits as well as my costs, time guestimates, methodology etc. It'll be a few days as I'm documenting it for myself for future projects. I'd like to record the little details that I learned along the way prior to them disapearing from my nogin.

I did mine in '96 I believe. Not becuase it needed it - aesthetically - but I was getting tired of being invisible on Mass highways. So I went with corvette competition yellow, and a 2Bros full header exhaust. Invisible no more....
I thought it was relatively easy - one weekend. The break down and reinstall were much more laborious. There's another active thread on this with some great comments - see http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/12709-painting-fairings-tank.html. Let us know how it goess - good luck!
