Ordered my Aerostich yesterday for commuting. Got shipped out today. Can't wait to get it, i've wanted one of these for years. I have not met a 'Stich owner who did not love their suit. Got the one-piece step-in Roadcrafter; looking forward to getting out of my riding gear at work in 10 seconds, with my street clothes on underneath, and not having to change out of my gear in the bathroom upon arriving at or leaving from work. Got the Hi-Viz yellow with black ballistics. Should be pretty visible on the Viffer with that.
Please post a photo or two when it arrives. Might I inquire: 1) How much was the final $$$? 2) Was it an easy process to order it? 3) Was Aerostich easy to work with? Thanks KC-10 FE out... lane:
KC, Be happy to post some photos when I get it. 1)My best recollection of the cost is: $767; $747 for the suit, $20 clams to ship via UPS. 2) Very easy to order, they were very helpful and friendly on the phone figuing out what size to order for me. 3) Very. Aerostich is justifiably reknown for the quality of their customer service. An example: I originally ordered a red/black yesterday, then upon reading about their Hi Viz late last night, decided to call first thing this morning to see if it had shipped already. One of the women who worked there checked the order, and noted that the order did not have a tracking number assigned yet. She then went down to the shipping dock, pulled the red suit and replaced it with a yellow one, then called me to let me know she had swapped out the different color suit for the order. These guys are GREAT. One of the reasons I went with Aerostich was because I knew they had an impeccable reputation for customer service; if the suit doesn't fit, I will send it back, and they will replace it with one of a better size, or make custom alterations for me to make it work right for me. You don't get customer service like that very often these days. Virtually everyone I've ever talked to about their Aerostich product has commented unprompted on how good their customer service is. As a company you can't buy that kind of word-of-mouth; it only comes from a long-time dedication to quality and service.
I've been wanting one for a while, but haven't had the $$$. Once I sell my track leathers I'll probably order one. Let us know how you like it once you wear it please.
Damnit, People! Aerostich, Ohlins, Staintune, et al! I've fallen in with a classy crowd... Congrats! I've been lusting after one, too. Doh!
Just tryin' to get this bike set up for commuting and touring. Had to do the suspension work, with 15K on the bike, the suspension is basically toast.
Yea, well, see what I mean, everyone has one. LOL why I'm going the distance looking for the Spidi, that said it's looking like Aero may be in line since I talked to them about size and color, so will see where this goes. Congrats. what color combo did you get ? one should love that bright yellow one huh?
They are shipping me HiViz Yellow with black ballistics. I will see what I think of it when it gets here. Still undecided on the color, but as I will be primarily commuting on the bike, seems like a safe bet.
OK, I understand the Ohlins, and the front end work that is going to be done. I am curious as to how the suspension work relates to the Aerostich, however. In for a penny, in for a pound? Sorry, PC. I just couldn't help myself!
The 'Stich is so that I can get into and out of my riding gear quickly at work. I principally bought my VFR for commuting to keep miles off the car and save bridge toll and fuel money. All I have now is Dainese racing-oriented two-piece leathers complete with knee skids. Having to change in the bathroom out of the leathers, and into my street clothes, and then the reverse, when I leave when I arrive or leave work, respectively, is a major hassle. Especially, the building I am in, which has only two bathrooms for about 200 people. With the 'Stich I can ride to work with my street clothes on underneath and get out of the suit in 10 seconds flat. I got the Hi-Viz Yellow because I want to be conpicuous when commuting....a lot of knuckleheaded drivers in the Bay Area.
Here's a thread jack...... I have an Aerostitch two piece that's in great condition in a 42L. I now am a 44 to 46R and short of starving myself, it isn't working for me anymore. I looked at alterations, which they do on the jacket but not the pants. The total for altererd jacket and new pants is over $500, so I'm debating selling off the current suit (black with red) and starting over with a one piece. Any interst out there? If I could get $500 this is a no-brainer for me. I'd be on the fence for $400. My other thought is to alter the jacket and get the one piece anyway. That leaves me the one piece plus the jacket-only option. The issue there is it'll be hard to do anything with just the pants and it's a pricy way to go. Would anyone want just the pants? Anyway, given some positve response, I can post some pic's. BTW... If you're 6' to 6'1" and go about 175 to 190 lb with a 33" inseam, that's where this suit fit me best.
NOW I get it. I go to the gym every morning before the office, so I generally just take my truck to avoid all of the clothing changes (ridiing gear to gym clothes, gym clothes to riding gear, riding gear to office clothes, office clothes to rding gear). Plus, Sonoma County is almost always cold and damp in the morning, hot and dry in the afternoon, so there are all the additional layers to contend with. Man, I must be getting old! I never used to care about this stuff. An Aerostich might help reverse the aging process a bit. Oh, by the way, I suspect that your knuckleheaded drivers come up here on the weekends.
So after on and off with my still stiff blue/gray patched 'stich one piece roadcrafter I'm glad I spent the coin. It is ten seconds on/off. Only real problem for me has been getting a good seal the first time on the collar area above where the zipper starts. w/o looking in a car window to see if the velcro is closed I get a wicked cold draft riding... it would be wet if it was raining... so now I'm more careful... most of the time to get that part right the first time. it was 38-41F on the ~200mile ride Sat. Now I understand why folks have electric vests. I was fine with a fleece & long sleeves under the roadcrafter, but another ten degrees colder would not have been enjoyable. Wish I'd gotten the clear plastic for the left arm to hold work ID to get through the gate faster.
Hey Puma Cat, I think you will be pretty happy with your purchase. I bought the Roadcrafter jacket last fall, The pants are sure to follow. I, too, bought the hi-vis but with grey ballistics. Very happy with it myself. I agree, customer service was top notch. Being from Minnesota, it is good to have a local company like Aerostitch so close. Around here it seems that the Beemer guys are the only ones with the fancy suits. Very nice unit, let us know what you think.
