I just recieved my new pads, F & R today, and am planning on installing them this weekend. I have never changed pads on a bike before. Also going to change fluids out but have a brake bleeder tool. Anyway do the calipers Pivot up and away from the disc like car calipers do? And can you compress the cylinder in with a C clamp like car disc brakes? Also not sure what bolts to remove to do this. I have inspected the calipers and cant quite figure it out. Any and all advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :noidea:

    brake pads

Hold on man. just remove the 2 bolts for each caliper(front). Remove the pins that hold the pads in.install pads, grease pins lightly when you re-install. remove master cyl. res. cap and pistons should move back easily. for rear, remove from stay arm and do the same in the front. sorry about this post, but i'm running out of time. If you use the c-clamp something is wrong. And when i say the 2 bolts i mean the ones that hold then to the forks.Good luck V4dan. keep postin' if your stuck, i'll keep an eye out for you. just make sure you pump up the brakes, or make sure there's pressure before you go riding

    where's your manual, Dan??

It's easiest to remove the outer pad pin covers (straight screwdriver) and loosen the pad pins (5mm allen) while caliper is still mounted on bike. Each caliper comes off mounted on a carrier bracket.

On left side use 6mm (top)and 4mm (bottom) allen wrenches to remove large upper bolt and small lower bolt, then swing caliper back and off

On right side remove 2 12mm bolts using 6-point socket.
make sure pins that go through pads are clean and not dented.

C-clamp will work if it's not too big.

Clean calipers and discs with brake spray cleaner, and don't get any on tyres.
