    Oh, yeah... on topic.

I finally got a Battery Tender JR for the bike. I had ridden daily for so long I never got one until now. Hooked it up before heading to work this morning and remembered to add something to my list of stuff I don't like on the bike...

The plastic panel covering the battery sucks. One of the plastic push-pins broke the first time I pulled it off. I wish it mounted like the plastic on my old Suzuki GS550E, with just a rubber grommet that the plastic fit into. Has anyone feel in love with this piece?

Center stand is off, unless my daughter is touring with me (mellow riding not pushing it in the turns) & I take it off the Sprint as well, because in the canyons & tracks I did, & now she does, hits-drags the center stand in turns & is dangerous of pogoing/highsiding the bike

Nozzle, I had to diddle around with that plastic battery piece when I was coming up with a livable route for an electric vest harness. It does strike me as being kinda cheesy. Perhaps that was when the Honda R&D budget ran out of money, so they adapted a piece from a coffee maker (or something like that). Mine didn't break; it was just a minor pain.

+1. You've captured and articulated my perspective on this perfectly.

This is a forum, and as such, should be open for discussion to all members, with the understanding that we treat each other with courtesy and civility.
Differences of opinion should be part and parcel of a lively and engaging forum community, that is the value they bring to this experience we all love called motorcycling.

And now, we return to our regular programming, already in progress.

Hey Noz I always liked the ole Mickey's Big Mouth in high school, cheap and easy to chug, thanks to the ingeniously large opening, LOL! That could explain why I have no problem understanding your sense of humor..........

For the record, you guys have taken something and twisted it into something that it never was. Jason, NorcalBoy and myself never suggested that people should not express their point of views, we simply referred to the wishes of the thread owner about the people who should provide feedback. If we should treat each other with courtesy and civility, should we also not respect such requests? How can you have it one way, but not the other? Threads do seem to go sideways sometimes which can be counterproductive and also prevent individuals from wanting to participate. So once again, if I offended anyone in any way, then I do sincerely apologize, but that was not the intent. I'm done now. Let's put this to rest.

How I ever got involved in all this in the first place is beyond me, I think it was that German Airplane Guy's post. I think that there was more than just a little animosity from some of the established VFR World non 6th Gen guys when JasonSmith and I decided to organize all of the 6th Gen guys into a group. I did it for the exact same reason that has manifested itself over the last 3-4 weeks. I created the 6th Gen group to see what kind of reaction I would get from the rest of the Gen riders that had been ruling the roost up to that point. It was very silent at first, but now I see the underlying subversive feelings that have started to show themselves - just like I was expecting. It was all open season and fun and games on the 6th Gen guys until the 6th Gen militia was created, then it wasn't as much fun anymore because it's not so easy picking on 50 guys as it was 3 or 4. Like it or not, we all gotta share this place so we all need to get over it and understand that there has been a change in the group dynamic and it isn't going away. Quit attacking each other for Christ sake! I think it has been very entertaining for me to see the reaction, thanks to all who have participated. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comment probably would work. I have been told the springs are set for 160lbs and I am 210 with gear on so they are just a bit soft.

OK, another 6th Gen gripe occured to me today. Every bike I have ever had was equipped with a basic tool kit. A bit tinny and chintzy, but a side-of-the-road, bail-your-butt-out, tool kit. My brand-spankin' new '07 has exactly one tool supplied, which is a combo rear wheel / chain adjuster, rear shock preload adjuster, and gas tank prop. AND, it does NOT work on the rear shock, pops off every time. I always put together a supplementary kit to fill in the gaps anyway, but I would have liked to have had SOME sort of cheesy assortment to start with.

And it occured to me why it took me so long to buy one. VFRs have always seemed a bit too expensive for what you get, compared to what else was available for the same money. I am not arguing the merits here; just one of those things that I think most consumers think about. It really is a good bike.

And as soon as I can figure out if I want yet another thing to maintain, register and insure, I'll probably return to my quest of finding a clean 2000 VFR in yellow. Old bevel-drive Ducatis are just too much money for what you get, now that they are "popular" and I want at least one bike that makes some decent mechanical noises when it runs, kind of like an old Singer sewing machine on steroids.

God, I wonder if this some sort of cry for help?

If you don't own a cbr, gsxr,zx, or r1/r6 you can forget about finding anything from the popular websites.

There are quite a few places to get VFR stuff

    Check this out:

    http://groups.msn.com/RonsVFRPage/links.msnw

This is my own personal list. I have compiled a couple of pages with roughly 30-35 accessory suplliers for VFR's, Just copy the links and paste them into your browser. I'm adding new stuff every day.

Here here! My last bike, a 929 Fireblade had the best "under seat storage" on a bike I've ever had! Not bad for a pure "sports bike". There was enough room for two tinted/clear visors and wet weather gear. It's true that the newer Fireblades aren't as accommodating, but for a sports-tourer it's almost criminal -the lack of space under the seat. Honda, I don't *want* to carry a D-lock or fit factory panniers for the sake of some carrying "practicality"!
