The exhaust on the blackbird I had was basically a straight pipe, so when the rings started to leak by a little, it would shoot a blue flame about 8-12 inches out of the pipe when bouncing off the rev limiter. It was amazing how fast people would get off my tail.

I've been known to advance the throttle and drag the back brake. Moving away while giving a reminder to someone on your six they're too close.

Works great in my truck too, accept I don't throttle, just give 'em a scare. A friendly wave after the flip-off really gets them worked up too.

OK! Thanks VLAD. This is a real possibility. What else do the rest of you do when someone is following too closely? Come on...I know you all have some ideas. I am especially interested in things that get the point across without getting some cager angry enough to WANT to mow us down. Fess up, boys...(COME ON DIVE BOMBER...I know YOU have some ideas!)

Without resorting to extreme measures (like road rage ball-bearing stuff), that is a tough one buddy. People LOVE LOVE LOVE to tailgate these days. Like you said, if you try and have a big gap up front, somebody swoops in and takes it...defeating the purpose.

One of the things I have done (this happened a couple of weeks ago last time) is just tap/pulse your brakelight, and use a "push back" signal with your hand. Doesn't always work, but it has sometimes, and also do as Vlad suggested. There is no easy answer really, because even for the pull away brakelight method, people are such jackasses that they just speed up and get on your ass again....it is a losing battle boys....

In traffic, I watch the mirrors quite a bit. I am on the throttle if someone creeps up. When I am caging, I leave lots of space between me and the bike. I will even run blocking for them with the other cagers. I have gotten quite agressive to protect the biker's space.
