I know we've all seen the Japanese PD VFR's......but how about this! Malaysia VFR800 Fire Rescue Bikes!!!!
Each unit comprises 3 bikes - one with Floating Pump and hose, one with Extinguisher and Rapid Water Gun, and one with Rescue Cutters and paramedic gear.

Now if I can only get this approved at my department!!!:flame:

I just wet myself. Having been a firefighter, myself I would have killed to get one of those. The cool thing is no one else would have been caught dead on one, so I would have it all to myself.

Absolutely, notice that they are all on the centerstand, and all the rear tires are touching the ground. Also it appears that the bars are converted to tubular style with quite a bit of rise! I imagine that have some quite interesting handling characteristics to say the least!

Also they have some ST's outfitted similarly:

Forgive me for being a little off topic.
My company has let me run out on my VFR to do lift assists during rush hour in LA. Takes me 16-19 minutes from Inglewood to LAC/USC area 12 miles away. Would have taken another Ambulance over an hour.

Sometime during my career I am going to submit a proposal for a motor unit. I'm just gathering info on the dept.'s that do utilize motorcycles right now. This is the most interesting use of FD bikes that I've found, mostly in the USA FD's they run as pairs - one BLS (EMT) and one ALS (Paramedic). Living in an area that is increasing in density and traffic congestion (Atlanta listed as 4th worst in the nation) I think that it will be a logical choice in the near future to have a motor unit in our dept.

It makes sense as a first responder unit. Some dept.s have a supervisor or floater that runs from call to call and only does initial assessments and triage. In the areas with more fair weather, it could decrease response times.
