Hi my name is Manuel and I just got an 1984 VFR700. How often should I change the oil?

According to my manual Manuel.....it say every 4000 miles. But it could also be at whatever interval you prefer. Take good care of it, and it will last longer.

If it is conventional oil, I would change it every 3,000, or at least once every season. If you run a good synthetic, I would extend it to around 5k or so. It really depends a lot on your riding conditions, and riding style. There are a bazillion different opinions on what type of oil to use and when to change it.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

    Oil change

Thanks for the help everyone. I mostly ride on the freeway bought 50 miles each way. I will probably change it every 3,000 and run some good oil in it.

I change mine at the start of each season. I do the bike and the lawn mower all in the same day.

    Hello There

I change my oil about every 3000 miles and I use Castrol GTX 5W-30. This is what I have use in all my bikes with no major problems. I did this with my 1985 Goldwing Interstate. The Goldwing has 80,000 miles on it and still runs like the day I picked it up new at the dealers.

    Gears

It actually goes back into neutral. Weird thing is that my neutral light doesnt come on and then I have to step down on it really hard unlike the other gears. It only does it some times when I am about to take off.

that sounds like it's not completely getting into gear. mine does that occasionally if I dont shift decisively. I have pretty much decided it's probably me as it only happens every once in a while. I'm not sure that it's the same problem for you, though. Some of the other suggestions sound like a good starting point.
