    Guys,

Is anyone riding or have rode a speed triple. I'm looking for a 2nd bike and wondering if the Striple will be that much different than the VFR? Am I buying a similar type of bike? speed handling etc.

I know 3cy and straight up riding.

Someone please give me their .02 cents.

    Joe

Go ride one. They are very different and a lot of fun. A great day ride / hooligan / hot weather bike. The only problem is keeping your drivers license. I think one would go well as a partner to the VFR.

If I can ever get a second street bike, it'll be a Speed Triple. I think it's a perfect compliment to the VFR. I've ridden one once and they're very different from one another.

I owned an '06 for about four months and got rid of it for exactly that reason, i was going to kill myself or loose my license. The triple motor is awesome, you think that VFR's have torque down low, the triple is very torquey. From 3K all the way to red line the torque curve is damn near flat. Likes to bring the front wheel up real easy in second coming out of curves. Motor has a very distinctive sound like our VFR's, very addictive.

Very much fun to ride but not real comfortable for long rides. I say if you are just looking to pick up a fun bike, go for it, they're a blast.

I liked the S3 right up to the point they bobbed the rear. Now, it looks almost as if they forgot to finish the bike. This seems to be a trend in the sportbike market. It's a trend that I sincerely hope goes away. Soon.

Exhibit A. Looks as if someone cut the as$ end of the bike off. The wheels are much nicer on this model:

Exhibit B. Much cleaner & finished lines. No contest, this bike looks better:

    KC-10 FE out...

Blech. I hate to agree with anything KC says, but he's right. Exhibit A looks like an unfortunate amputee.

I love the speed triple. I was looking to buy one but bought the VFR because I already have the GSX-R and I needed something more practical. My thrid bike WILL be the triple.

Personally I like the newer version much better. Having ridden the S3 only once I will say it makes you do bad things......very bad things that are so good!

Visit here and lurk around for a while and you will learn a lot about the S3 and other Triumph product line. Triumph is really moving up in the motorcycle market. I seriously considered getting a new ST 1050 but my roots with Honda drew me in. Who know's may own an ST in the future.

Singer/actress Aaliyah has a music video called "More than a woman" that features several clips of a Speed Triple. I think it was one of her last before she died in a plane crash back in 2001. Being an Aaliyah fan, I have a certain fondness for the Speed Triple, all because of that music video

Did you ever ride one? If so, what did you think?

My riding buddy had a ducati monster 900 and last year bought a new 1050 speed triple. It is awesome. He loves it. It is faster than my vfr everywhere. I can slightly pull away in the corners on either bike so I think they are very similar in capabilities. You can't ride the speed triple like a vfr or you will end up on your back. I will see how comfortable he is going to Daytona next month.
