What's up guys, i'm a newbie to this site. I ride a '06 Suzuki Katana 750, but my friend has a VFR. I just picked it up about 8 months ago. It runs fairly smooth, but things are getting a litte outdated. It is pretty much stock, with about 26k miles on it, and we are looking at getting suspension and brake fluids changed. The oil has been changed regularly. I'm looking for other types of mods that can be done. I've scoped out some of the site and noticed things like o2 sensers and air filters. Whats with K&N or BMC air filters? I think he is goin to have the carbs cleaned also, are there jet kits that can be installed? I have done a lot of mods to my Suzuki, but I don't know very much about the VFR. I might be able to get a picture of it up later. Can I get some input :yield:
go to www.racetech.com for your front forks. As far as jet kits, the good ones are gone. The Dyno jet stage 1's are ok, but that's it. Take the hundred bucks and buy front springs from racetach. K&N filters are fine to use. Have fun! BZ
I'm looking for a K&N filter for my '96 as well. Where's the best place to buy one? The '96 VFR does not have any O2 sensors. There is an emissions related PAIR valve that injects atmospheric air into the cylinder heads (to clean up exhaust emissions), and it can be removed, but the benefit is marginal at best. A snorkel delete is a freebie you can do, makes the bike growl a little more, but no real HP benefit. There are lots of slip-on mufflers out there, but try and find a high mount to show off the SSSA. Also, if you're a real pimp, fabricate up a full system with a high left-exit. That's tits. Other than that, there really isn't much for speed bits for this particular bike. It's a high speed tourer more than a sportbike, the market for go-fast goodies reflects this.
Nice job getting that 96 Mat. That model year is MY favorite in the VFR line. Something about the black Y on the fairing or the round nose--I don't know, I just like 'em. One day one will be in my garage.
