Oh yes the ole Monster question. I've been on the fence with one. I too have an eye for the so called naked bikes. took one for spin, first thing i noticed right off the bat besides the low end grunt and sound was the placement of the foot pegs ,was kinda unnerving in a way that it made me not fit right therefore I didn't have it where I felt totally in control, Very disappointed I was, I really like the looks. then there was the wind blast, I didn't expect that one never really thought about it either till you ride a bike that doesn't have a faring like the VFR. So have to agree nice bike for the pop around town on.

Then Ducati went and brought out the Hyper. took that one out too, now here's a bike that can get you in trouble in a hurry if you let it, which IMO would be very easy to do, very nimble, extreme flickable, good seat and foot peg placement for this 6'1" kid, again the only thing that is still buggy boo is the wind blast. a great bike that just flat out handles like no other. Hmmm

Of course a Ducati question thread can't go with out mentioning a 1098 ;) LOL.

I honestly can't stand the look of the Hyper...not sure where you guys come down on it but I read a review comparing it to VFR and they panned the VFR for its sluggish handling by comparison. They said the Hyper had razor quick handling but there would never be one in my garage as the thing looks agricultural to me....lol.
I appreciate all the good input comparing the Monster to the VFR...Thanks again.

An article comparing a sport-tourer and a Hypermotard? Why did a mag publish that? "Yes, the motard is rather uncomfortable for 600 mile rides, while the sport-tourer handles much more deliberately than the motard . . . ." Doh!

Agree it was an obtuse comparison. To me the Hypermotard is an albatross...or a design that is at least acid inspired. It ranks right up there with the rear fender design on the retro Duc GT1000.
    Cheers,

I have to say that I have never been tempted by the monster but I love my 748. The next step will be a 996 or 998 but the VFR will always be the best streetbike for just about every reason except passion which is where the superbike hits all my sweet spots. Hmmm perhaps a 1098 someday?
