Greeting Gentlemen New to the board. Doing a little research on 2-3 models I am interested in personally. Figured the best place to start was with the experts that actually ride the bikes. I am a avid rider but do have a small collection of bikes I show, and ride occasionally as well. I am researching the 1984 VF500F, 1985 VF1000R, and the 1990 RC30. I would appreciate any comments you have on any of the above bikes in terms of pros and cons. I love the older bikes of the 70's and 80's, primarily from the big 4 japanese companies, although I do have a 93 Duc 888 SPO for when I have a chiropractor trip already scheduled haha The other race bred bike I currently have is a 1986 Suzuki Rg500 WalterWolf 2. This is a Japanese Domestic model (Tsuyoshi Mizutani replica) rather than the model you are probably more familar with exported to Canada. At anyrate, just wanted to introduce myself rather than lurk in the shadows. I know quite a bit about some bikes, very little about others. Either way always willing to learn.....as well as have some good laughs while in the process Best Regards Michael
Welcome Michael. Good to have you. Looks like you have quite the assortment of bikes already....I'm jealous, especially of that RG500 & CBX!
Thanks, Jason Yep! Kinda eclectic in my choices of bikes. But tend toward models that are first/only year, limited production, or had a impact on motorcycle history in some way. Retired now so have more time to ride and tinker...unfortuantely less peso's haha But everything has a trade off, thinking about get into vintage racing at novice level. Thanks for the welcome. PS: Notice you use to have a 87 FZR1000. Great bike I had one but sold it a couple years ago. Riding position just to agressive for the "old" back. But man was hell'va ride for 20 minutes haha That delta box aluminum frame changed sportsbikes of from that day forward regardless of the make.... Here she is:
Yeah, I sure do miss that baby. Mine was custom painted all black before I bought it from my brother's friend.....it was not the fastest, or best handling of any bike, but it sure did have loads of torque, and it put a smile to my face. Riding position was not the greatest, however, it was a hella lot better than my FZR600 which I owned before it. That thing was uncomfortable.
welcome, where in oklahoma ru.i am retired also and ride often and far from march to november.i am in pryor creek.going to san francisco on may or june.
Thanks, another Okie, great. I live in Choctaw, about 20 miles East of OKC. Going to Friso man that will be some trip this spring. I will be in that area around first of May, I have a bike in the Legends of Motorcycles Concours show at Half Moon Bay. Would love to ride but will be trailering a couple bikes instead. Plan on doing a few miles before returning however and take in a few of the sites. Sure not a day here to ride, probably same in Pryor I would assume...Brrrrrrrrr -Mike
