Anyone have this problem? The bike runs fine at speed, say.......20mph and up but if im putting around town the bike starts to jurk like being on and off the throttle, and doesnt want to excelerate then all the sudden the bike will take off on you like it was starving for fuel then all the sudden it started getting all the fuel it needed. But if Im ridding and it starts to get jurky on me and I just pull in the clutch the bike idle falls way below the thick white line 300-600rpm range then will die. Idle also falls when im coming up to a stop, gear down pull in clutch bike idle falls past thick white line on tach I would say around the 300-600 rpm range then dies. Every time it falls below idle and its trying to die I can smell exhaust really really strong. If I rev. the engine long enough the bike will run fine again. If it dies the bike starts back every time, I just hit the kill swith Off then On then hit the starter and it's running fine again. Well, until the next time. 2004 vfr800 bought it new in july of 2007 left over stock dealship in Kansas USA had six units still in crates. This has been happening since the first 100 miles till present with 6700miles. Dealship doen't have a clue what to do. Stll waiting for the Recall harness to arrive.

In addition to what Two4one said, I would check the vent lines. If your tank vent line is pinched or clogged it can cause symptoms similar to what you’re describing.

+1 on this. Not trying to hammer you, I am just wondering is why did you wait so long before acting on it? The dealer might give you a hard time now about your care for it, but will still have to do something about it.

BTW, welcome to the forum adam!

ive taken it to several dealerships and all but one is saying that nothing is wrong with the bike. The dealership that im currently working with is saying that my "bike is running like crap." so he replaced the plugs and thought that the problems was fixed then the bike started stalling again. John Salney the (regional manager) told Keith Van del list (service manager) for the shop Im working with that "there isnt anything wrong with this bike and honda will no longer reinburse the dealership for work done on this bike. Even thought keith is saying the bike is not running right. So right now my shop is waiting on the recall harness arrive, to see if thats the problem. Ive spent hours upon hours of typing and talking on the phone with Honda co. to get this resolved.

Honda doen't have to do *$#! if they dont want. If I cant get this fix ill have to take it to court im sure to get somthing done, or get in a wreck because of this problem. Problems are always fixed after someone gets hurt, just sucks for that one person that has to make an example.
