Well, the cold and wet weather moved into Phoenix and I decided to buy some boots. These would be my first pair. I didn't have alot of money to spend so after many painstaking hours of research and reading reviews, I settled on a pair of Nitro Matrix boots. Paid $60.00 plus SH, so about $70.00.

First, out of the box these boots look great IMO. The don't look like alot of the plain, all black, generic looking boots. I had also consided the new TourMaster boot, but it looked too much like an old mans shoe. These Nitro's have White stitching on black leather, 3 reflective patches on backside, and metal vents in the front outer sides.

Tried them on and where very comfortable from the get go. In other reviews, some people complained about the laces, but I don't know why. Maybe other boots don't have laces??? These have a locking clip, so you just pull the laces tight at the top and slide the clip down to lock the laces tight, then tuck them down and close the leather flap (velcro surface underside). The boots were just a little stiff at first, but that's worked itself out over the past 3 days. These are definately comfortable enough to walk around in for lengthier amounts of time.

Now for rider use. Like I said, the cold and rain moved into Phoenix. I've worn these the past 3 days through heavy rain and temperatures between 34 and 60 with dress socks on and my feet have stayed warm and dry. This morning was 34 and thought maybe I could feel a slight draft from the vents but not enough to make my feet even remotely cold.

Quality seem good. This is my first pair so nothing to compare it to. The underside of the tongue flap has some stitched fabric that looks like someone could have taken some extra time to do, but overall the boots appear sufficient. There isn't any reinforced side/ankle padding or protective liner, other than the leather, which would be nice, but hey, for $60 what can I expect.

Overall I think these are probably the best boot for the buck I could have purchased and would definately buy these again. Granted, if I had $150-200 to spend on boots, I might have chosen a different pair that were more protective / reinforced; but I am very happy with these boots.

    Hope this helped.

I too got nitro boots, the nitro sport boots though, great productes for the price, comfortable, easy on/off, ankle protection, toe sliders.

Like you said also they dont make my feet freeze. With a single pair of socks at 27 degrees i could feel a little draft bu tnot bad at all.
Still comfortable after several hours of twisties.
No laces just a very strong velcro over wrap and zipper
Only down side is they were still al little stiff trying to walk thru walmart

Check the vendors on ebay that offer them, most should be able to order them if they dont carry them.

Here is where i got my boots maybe they can get you thre toe sliders, there are several other vendors on ebay too.cyclegearnmore also helmets n more.. they are located in N central tn..

after doing a search i couldnt find a listing for just the sliders so here is another link to a vender.

I'm on my second pair of Nitro Matrix boots. I liked them so much I wore a hole in the soles, but they actually can be refit as Nitro sells the soles as well for all their boots. They are super comfortable boots. More like a stiff pair of high top tennis shoes. I have even worn them all day at Busch Gardens, as I took the bike there and did not feel much fatigue after a day's walking, then the ride home.

I was lazy. I got my brother to buy the second pair for me for Christmas. I live in Florida and these are great FAIR weather boots at a great price. Very good quality. I disagree with the original poster K9 from Phoenix though. Because this style has the metal mesh vents they are NOT waterproof by any stretch of the imagination. I suggest to him that he is not riding in torrential downpours as I often do here. My feet did not get SOAKED, but the socks were definitely wet all over the feet after 45 minutes of riding in the rain, and the boots needed to air dry as the leather is not water proofed.

That's why I also have the rainproof Nitro full length boots. Now those boots are water tight and very warm in cold riding conditions and only about $10 more than the Matrix. I suggest K9 try a pair of those. I am sure he'll be happy he did.

I get the Nitro boots online and do not pay shipping, so the Matrix were $59, and my waterproof Nitros were $69.

I wish the Matrix was zippered like my full length Nitros instead of the velcro. I don't know why everyone uses velcro. It wears out and curls up and looks crappy given time... and believe me, the leathers on these boots are going to outlast the soles and the laces and the velcro. Zippers, or even small buckles would have been nice, but for the money this is a damn good buy.

I have had many compliments on these Matrix boots from riders at get togethers. Everyone says they look sharp. Then I tell them how good they are, and how cheap they are!

Most of the time I find them on Ebay. The waterproof boots are the Nitro/Vega Touring boot. Very comfy.

Here's an Ebay link with free shipping:

That's the link right to the Nitro Matrix boot, but if you go into the seller's online store you can see they also offer the sport and touring styles as well... Once you go into the online store put the keyword 'Nitro' into the search bar.
