All, I am winterizing this baby and read that I need to empty the carb float bowls of gasoline. I cannot locate a drain screw in the maintenance manual. Any one know where this may be?

    Thanks!!!

I'd just add "Sta-Bil" to the gas tank, fill it to the top with fuel, then ride it a couple of miles. I don't drain my bike of fuel to prevent rust in the tank and drying out the carbs.

Do I turn off the fuel petcock and run it dry and let it sit? Or run it occasionally?

I try to run mine from time to time. Just down the street and back.

I throw stabilizer in the tank and keep the petcock off if its sitting for a serious length of time but i attempt to start it at least twice a month during the winter and let it run for a few min long enough to give the battery a bit of a charge.

Better to just use a battery tender, as the charging system won't do anything noticable until about 2000 rpm. And then you'd have to let it run for 30min or more which, unless you're riding it, isn't good for the engine. And if you only run it for a few minutes, the engine and exhaust won't get up to temp and it will build up condensation in the oil and pipes which eventually will start to rot things out. Just an FYI.

Fill the tank all the way up to the top. Add Stabil or Seafoam. Run the bike 10 miles to get the fuel throughout the fuel lines/pump. When you get back home, turn off the petcock and let the bike die.

If you start the bike again, be sure to get it up to operating temperature to burn off any condensation. Then follow the previous procedure.

Filling the tank to the top will help prevent rust.
