One of my all time favorite bikes. In fact, I almost bought one last week. I tried to convince my wife I was buying it for her. She loves them too. We used to have one back in 1985. The one I was looking at last week was beautiful, in like new condition. The guy wanted top dollar for it, a little more than I though it was worth, but I would have paid his asking price based on the condition it was in. I sure hated to let that one go, but the wifey is holding out for a CBR600RR. I also have a CBR1000RR, but it’s a little too much for the street. The Mini-Ceptor is a better street ride, IMHO.

Nice bike. The 500's aren't known to go all that fast, I know they say top speed is 120 mph. But that's the bike brand new all tuned up. Nice fun starter bike in all. I'd say in top condition, depending where you are, around $1000-1500. Nothing more. You can find 1000's in okay shape for $1500(if you can find them). The hard part is to find the plastic not cracked.

But for $400, it was a steal. You say it falls on it's face. How does it idle? Rich/lean? If it was sitting around, it's always good procedure to take the carbs off and clean'em out, or cheap out with carb cleaner in the tank.

    Good score!

I was saving up to buy one, and then some jerk sold it.

    So, I bought the 700!
