Are there any options for the rear brake on a vf1000r. They are not available through Dennis Kirk and the ones on ebay are used and overpriced. I was hoping another bike might have the same size or something along those lines. Any advice you veterans out there might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Seems the rear brakedisc of the vfr1000r is not awable as a aftermerket part. OEM is the only option.

Is it the same as the 1000F? I still have the stock rear wheel that I'm not using and I believe the rotor is fine. I can check it out later if needed.

Nope, it is smaller in diameter and is a ventilated disc. Near as I can tell, it is a one off rotor, only on the 1000R.

I was a bit worried about that, it won't be cheap. I'm trying to fit a vf1000r rear rim on a vf750f.

The brake rotor on the R's is very unique. I investigate making a wave type rotor to fit the R's about two years ago then it got hot again earlier this year. I've got the design finished and even had a prototype made. I ran it up the flagpole and found the interest to be zero. This is typical for the early VF's. Before I'll invest significant amounts into something like this I want to be sure that I get most of it back out. All I really need is five or six people to commit but it's just not happened. The cost was going to be $200 each.

There's a guy in the UK who has an FF he's parting out. He has the whole rear wheel, which looks like the R Comstar, you'll have to take a look to see if the rotor would work. You could ask if he'll sell the rotor by itself. Worth a shot.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up finding a rear rotor on ebay that was in good shape for only $20. I was the only one to bid.
