First up for Iconic today’s a one owner Interceptor that was originally a birthday present! This low-mile Honda VFR750F is from ‘86 and it’s available for bid now on Iconicmotorbikeauctions.com

Piggybacking off the success of the race-oriented VF750, the VFR750 Interceptor was Honda’s decision to appeal to the masses with a more approachable roadster. As named on the fairings, the VFR offered gear driven cams, resisting stretching and increasing longevity.

Beyond that, the VFR saw a change in the overall design of the crankshaft, from the a 360-degree found in the original VF750, to a now 180-degree which freed up valuable space in the frame for larger carburetors. This change led to an increase in power as well, with the Interceptor good for 106.05 hp and 53 lb-ft of torque, paired to a DOHC variable transmission.

The seller is the original owner. The odometer shows 1,458 miles.

“My wife gave it to me as a birthday present. It was purchased new from Honda of Atlanta on 7/11/87. I have photos of the Bill of Sale, delivery work sheet, dealer tag, and original warranty. I’m letting it go as I am 72 and my wife says that she understands.”

Maintenance:
“I have had 4 major services done on the bike since new, mainly to get it running after sitting. The last service was completed on 7/17/26 and included a complete carb rebuild, complete brake rebuild, battery, and fluids. Most of the parts for the service were rounded up by Lalo at Iconic. I have photos of all major service invoices done on the motorcycle.”

Per the seller, this bike is stock and includes 3 ignition keys and the passenger seat cowl.
“I have kept the original factory brochure in an envelope, so it is just as it was 39 years ago. The tool kit and manual are still in the bike. The manual is still in its original plastic sleeve and has my original owner Honda ID card and salesman’s business card stapled to the inside.”

Currently located in Longboat Key, Florida, this Honda is offered on a clean Florida title.

 

Inside fuel tank pic looks weird......is that a coating?

 

Yes. With no mention.

 

It looks like a coating job gone bad. I imagine it will be pealing off and clogging up the fuel system shortly. Curious to see what it goes for.

I'm also not sure the carb work was done right, just based on the cold start.

Only shows a gasket kit for parts. So carbs not split up with o-rings replaced? Jets not replaced?

 

And I don't see a battery listed in the parts. Maybe the owner did that work.

 

Yeah.. is the idle supposed to gallop like that?

Sounds like maybe missing a cylinder at idle.

I've never held the throttle open on a cold start .unless it's a weed eater lol

OK, so here's the gasket kit listed on the invoice. There's only Qty 1 listed but you need 4 for all the carbs. Another mystery......

 

I also just noticed $125 for "key cut".

There's 3 keys supplied with the bike:

"The sale includes 3 ignition keys and the passenger seat cowl."

I don't get it. Did this have to do with the fuel tank cap? I mean...how does a key cut cost $125? I go to Ace hardware with my blank and the original key....and they don't even change me anything.

 

Another item.. This comment seems odd because most shops pretty much do their own part sourcing, don't they?
