The little VTR has been officially saved! A new owner and a fresh rider. The father and son came to pick it up in there nissan mini truck. Everything barely fit, but they got it all home after a 2.5hr drive.
He messaged me after he got home that he was sorry not to have messaged earlier, but he was out riding around the neighborhood for a while. hahaha
He is stoked. "runs like a top". One of his neighbors wanted to chat with him about it as well, impressed by the condition. Made me feel good for all the elbow grease.

I showed them how to load and transport the bike since this was their first bike to move. They only had a piece of wood to load with so I grabbed my ramp and off seat rode the bike into the bed. Their tie downs were kinda iffy so I gave them a couple along with some Canyon Dancer extensions to keep the tie downs off the plastic. All in all another easy transaction through Iconic Motorbikes and a nice family to be the caretakers of the VTR250. :)

Fantastic and another reason why picking a bike up in person is the best way....where possible!

A father/son is awesome - what memories each will have of this adventure!

I've yet to sell any of mine but a transaction your yours seems like the gold standard.

    Really cool - thanks for sharing, @RogueRC24 ! :)

You are most welcome Bazza. I like to help people that don't really know how to approach a new thing so it was nice to be useful. hahahaha
Cool adventure and learning experience for me and hopefully a bike full of new memories for the kid. :)

On the subject of picking bikes up in person.....from the seller/previous owner......I like to document with photos, if possible. I always thought it was like passing the wand forward in a relay race. More than just that even - kind of ceremonial, actually. :)

Here's the young man who sold me his '06 Ninja 500R back in '21. Good kid going to school and working part time. He'd bought a new bike so was selling his Ninja.

I emailed the photos to him when I got home and informed him all went well on the transport. This one was just from the Orlando area so only an hour drive away.

My dad hates motorcycles, so I was on my own from the get go. he assisted with one or two things, but did nothing but complain about them. Zero support. Zero memories of riding and him. He did attempt to move my FJ1200 in the garage once and promptly dropped it on top of himself and did a ton of damage.

:( Sorry to bring up those memories.

My father passed away when I was 14 so that impacted any relationship we "could" have had later on as I got my own cars and bikes, etc.

My Mom re-married and my step dad wasn't so great, so that didn't work out either.

Fortunately I did get to experience some cool times with my real Dad before he passed as he was a car nut especially air cooled German cars.

My dad is an awesome human being...but we're opposites in nearly everything. He's been having a hard time for a few years. Not long ago I mentioned that it must be hard for him with us being opposite on everything. He said "It is." Completely void of how many things he gets/does/says wrong. lol

    He sounds awesome B
Just the fact that you can tell him what you said and he took it well. He’s doing the best he can and that’s all we can ask for.
