Luckily it’s a small engine so easy to remove from frame. It’s awesome that plenty of us here can do the work ourselves… dying breed.
Good luck Brother… I know it will come out better than new.

I've never R&R'd a VFR engine but need to do so for one of my RC24's.

Thinking I should have it up on a lift table to do so.

My to-do list is not short - but will keep chipping away.

I really should try to prioritize this one though.....

Master innards. Top is the clutch. Bottom the front brake.

All this work I've been doing with my fairings. I kept wondering why I didn't have a set for the RC24 in better nick. Then I got to thinking about the big Pit Bull box and when I took it out to my storage unit - I told myself this would be the perfect box to store fairings safely until needed.

And as such, didn't I stash a pair in there that were near perfect?

So it was on my to-do list today to check.....Bingo!

Nice. I do the same. Our shop unwraps 60ft a day of the nice foam sheets from received material. Also have access to nice oversize boxes.

I wouldn't recommend that. Once it is lowered, you need to tilt/roll it out of the chassis.

If you have a condor type front stand, I would put in that and put the rear on a swingarm stand. Get the bike as high as possible while also secure. A rolling hydraulic car jack with and interface between the pad and the pan.

Do all of your prep work on the lift of course, including getting all of the engine bolts loose, but when its time to lower the engine... Go to the the floor.

Some help from somebody steadying the engine is recommended, cuz it will be kinda "balanced". But I have done it myself more than once.

    That's my advice.

I now tend to strip the bike away as much as possible with the wheels off the ground and the oil pan on a solid crate. Wheels, forks, swingarm. Remove the rear stuff first and let the bike rock forward on the front tire. The when you remove the front wheel, the bike will balance out. Then remove forks.

Then I lift the chassis with the wires harness off and over to the new engine. That is my old man method now.

Thanks, Capt.....good to know. Funny I was just reading through the FSM procedure on this. And I watched a YT video yesterday - the guy was pretty funny but also I think I absorbed some stuff.

It looks like a fair amount of work....especially for a rookie like me.

When the time comes I will probably ask some questions ahead of time so would appreciate any additional input. Will be a little while yet.

    ========

I've been fussing with replacing the tire stem on the front wheel of my red wheeled bike and looks like I will be removing the wheel, breaking the bead, and inserting the stem from inside. I do not see any other way around it. I've R&R'd front wheels before so just a little time and sweat equity involved, hopefully.

    Man it never ends......lol.....

Pics later but I did get the front wheel off, the bead broken, and a new tire stem in. It's aired up to 29 lbs. and after I get cooled off am going to return and re-install the wheel.

Hotter than Hades out.....especially when you're wrenching in a non-climate controlled environment......:(
