I have the opportunity to buy a 1998-2001 VFR 800 Dynojet Power Commander 2 for about $80, but there is no CD with it and absolutely no support on the Dynojet website. It does have the computer connector cable, and I probably have an old XPcomputer somewhere in my basement with the correct connector.

The label on the back says M101-001.MAP. Would this be Plug and Play for my'99?

Can I make it work easily with some of the maps that members have posted on the forum.?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I have zero experience with the Power Commander.

Not sure. But I can tell you to avoid the CA model. I bought one and it sucks as it doesn't modify the low RPM at all.

Thank you! It is a CA model, but not your CA. I live above above the 49th parallel North :) No stringent emission controls in my Province.

The PC, not the bike. They made a Kommifornia model and it is not good.

I have had power commanders on one of my 5th gens and it maybe made a slight difference. I don't think it is worth the money unless you just want want to mess around with old maps which you might have a hard time finding and old tech. If the model year is 2000 or 2001 make sure the commander comes with O2 bypass wiring.

I think the PC2 allows you to adjust ignition timing? The PCIII and PCV do not (not that it really makes a difference on VFRs, so I've heard).

    Ciao,
