Got the tanks swapped but a rainstorm came in at the end so no testing yet.

This white tank's shade of white is a little darker than the fairings but better than what I had before - the green tank.

My favorite VFR ever. Good job!

I actually got to put together a brand new one exactly like yours back in the day......

I used to just sit at the parts counter and just stare at it out on the sales floor. I was a broke ass college student so I had to dream.

I will have one some day. Most of them I have seen were too ragged to buy,

Like your children, every generation of VFR deserves equal love, but I have to say to white 86, red 90 and red 02 VFRs are my favourite. I've owned a couple of the 86 750's and do find their lines to be simple and beautiful.

Kayla Yaakov made history on Saturday, March 7, finishing third at the 84th running of the Daytona 200. The Rahal Ducati Moto rider is the first woman to podium in the prestigious international event. In 2019, the Pennsylvanian posed for a photo with the late George Barber, founder of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.

“That was a very special moment for me, meeting the creator of my favorite racetrack,” recalls Yaakov, now 18 years old. "BarberMotorsportsPark has always been like an amusement park for me—all the statues, the museum, and, of course, the beautiful track itself. I was in awe that a person could come up with such perfection.

“I remember signing a poster that weekend for Mr. Barber, then hearing he had put it up in his office. I was so honored, especially after personally seeing all the amazing motorsports icons that he had also collected autographs from. Mr. Barber’s legacy will live on forever, and I’m so happy that I had the pleasure of meeting him.”

Fans can meet Yaakov in person when MotoAmerica Superbikes At Barber returns to Barber Motorsports Park on Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17. Five classes are scheduled to compete, including Superbike, Supersport, Talent Cup, Twins Cup, and, for the first time, the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship.

That's a great photo. My Dad never gave me a modified 650 sports bike! He did offer to pay for half of my first bike but also insisted it was only 125cc...

Told this story a few times, but seems appropriate to tell it again.

Opened my 16th birthday present... Arai Freddie Spencer Siper Vent. The card said they will match every dollar I make for my first street bike. Bought a perfect 84 VF500F with 1500 miles for $1500.

Ok to start … love the clock!
Love the helmet and I am happy you still have it.
I wish I still had my first helmet… unfortunately it was stolen off my Helmet Holder off my 1975 CB550F in 1976.
    Anyway , cool story Mike.

My parents were dead-set on not allowing me to buy a bike, but then realised my part-time work had accrued enough funds to enable me to buy what I wanted. Rather than an outright ban, Dad sensibly imposed some parental control: it had to be new, it had to be 125cc. He had a good mate who owned the local Honda dealership, so that narrowed the brand choice down. I bought a brand new 1982 CB125T; kick-start, points ignition, and a 12000rpm redline. I guess the Honda hook was set at that point. That bike lasted me all of 6 months and then the horsepower-need kicked in (and my parents were overseas!) so I upgraded to a CB250RS.

NZ ^ There is one of those for sale in my area code, but poor little thing is deader than dead looking. :(

I started with a CBR600 Hurricane. 88. Too fast and I crashed it multiple times. Learned my lesson and went down a notch to a CB-1. I should have kept that bike, but the HP bug got me and I got another CBR600..lol 87.

I bought my helmet before I had a bike. They laughed at me and said I was buying the cart before the horse. NOPE... I still have it. Original Doohan from 1992.

Ahh man, that is a good story. Sweet lid too!!
