So I sold the anniversary edition vtec 3 years ago.

Guy never changed the title over to his name. Now Monday I get the impound notice for the bike.

It's been there since July 2025. Outside. Chain is fucked, it's been down softly on one side but the tank and bodywork look decent. No key

Buyer still has the key. I contacted him asking why he didn't change the title and he "lost it".

I can go get the bike for about $500. He would like to get the bike back but I'm not sure if I want to help him.

I wouldn't mind having it back for $500, I prefer a good project.. but he fucked up and now it's in impound and goes to auction after 30 days or $20/day to sit there.

Should I go get it? I'd have to have a key made, amongst many other things to make it roadworthy.

I have a pretty good feeling that he's going to be unable to get it out himself...without going into detail because I only have the internet public records to go from...[IMG]

Yeah man. I'm thinking I want it back.

Honda dealer can't get a key I already asked so I'd have to do a locksmith no big deal. Better than drilling out the seat latch.

More importantly, can you get the title, or is it technically still in your name?

Oh I already got the duplicate title. It's still in my name. And I believe that the duplicate overrides the other.

They warned me at impound that the buyer could technically sue me since Iade a duplicate title

That's really the only thing holding me back

First thing I do when I buy a vehicle is sign and change over the title.

But since he's being lax and I really don't think he can get it from impound I'm So tempted to just take it for myself

He asked me how much for me to get it out of impound for him and hed pay me.

That tells me he can't get it out.
