"10. Finally, for the sake of "cooler running," premium fuel is promoted by some on the Internet. Anyone who has worked around Hondas, or for that matter any of the Big Four brands, for any length of time, knows that their standard road models have always been designed to run on unleaded 87 octane for so long that this fact should be included in the Smithsonian! A Honda bulletin about this exists dated 1971, so we have to look at least that far back. Premium fuel is a bad idea on bikes not specifically designed for it (such as Honda's own Turbo and any number of current hyperbikes, not to mention four-stroke motocrossers). Premium carbons up the valves prematurely and is the cause of some of the top end work that needs to be done on Gold Wings, especially, as well as other Hondas."

So running prem is not a thing recomened? Rut ro

I always run non-ethanol gas, which apparently is 89 octane.......

I wish that was possible around here. If I want to actually go anywhere on a decent ride, my very first gas stop will not have e-free.

Also, it's not all 89. When I go with gas cans (which is not in my neighborhood) to fill my e-free gas pump, depending on which one I go to, I can get 87, 89 or 91. Luckily there is one less than a mile from my work after we moved the business that has made it more convenient.

Since my bikes are stock then I can essentially run 87 +e? Time to do a little study on what we have locally.

    Absolutely.

Also, many people get confused regarding the Owner's Manual statement regarding 91 RON minimum. It is equivalent to 87 Octane (AKI) here in the States.

That is some bullshit. I'm not thrilled about availability in my area, but at least it is within 10 to 15 miles of me. I REALLY like having it for my power equipment and vintage bikes.

I've been using the Walmart super tech 2 stroke mix with great success. Runs all my 2 strokea and have not had a problem yet.

Maybe check out the super tech 4 stroke engineered fuel for long term storage? Trufuel or super tech

I haven't had a problem running ethanol in the riding season as long as I change to non ethanol for long term storage.

I am able to pickup ethanol free premium if I'm ~45 minutes from home. I grab it if I'm travelling to a race in that direction. If not, everything I have unfortunately gets E10 87. Every once in a while I'll stop on my way home from a race and refill the jugs to fill the other toys at home with.

I think people freak out a bit too much about E10. It's not going to go bad in 3 months. It probably won't in 9. But it'll definitely go bad a lot quicker than ethanol-free. I wish it were easier to buy.

At Barber at that giant godforsaken Bucees carnival of a gas station, they had 87 ethanol free. Only time I've seen it in probably the last decade. Now that was the good stuff.

Oddly enough, I found a pump near me that sells Sunoco 260GT, so I can actually buy race gas for $10/gal right out of the pump (Kramer comes with map for it. idk how all that wizardry works). So that's convenient.

We are fortunate to have e-free here at 2 locations - both 10 minutes from my home and 5 from my storage unit where I keep most of my bikes.

One is a Marathon station who offered it for years before the WaWa station was built a few years ago, and is where I took that photo above.

I usually fill up all my gas cans at once when I go. And also use this e-free fuel in all my small engine stuff.
