    Fuck FaceBook is my first
    comment.

2nd is the paint job is actually pretty good. Accompanying pics are of one of my stock 1986 1000R the day I brought home the project.

Obviously missing the large Honda. And of course they didn't get the rear stripes where they meet the taillight surround lined up right.

Something about the 1000R on the lowers. It is slightly out of position but also perhaps slightly smaller?

12K for a re-spray that is incomplete and not original seems high.

Pics aren't hi-res enough for a real deep dive. The bike seems pretty damn clean. Appears to be Throttlemeister bar ends too.

Looks like a crack around the left rear cowl mount.

Another re-spray where they can't manage to get the stripes lined up. I have never seen an original example like this.

    R_Zoom_2.jpg

Mirrors are not original. NS400R / NS125R style.

They did get the masking in the lower vent correct.

It is nice to have a resident expert in house if you are a true collector of OEM Hondas.

I am resto mod boy, so there are no bikes on my shelf that are original.

I am too. I only have one original, unrestored Honda. A 9K mile 1986 VF1000R.

Good eye Cap .. I run into CBX’s a lot that are “original” but actually FAR from it.
I agree with your price assessment.

Did not find any B.a.T. auctions for the '84 year.

    For the '85 year:

7 previous B.a.T. auctions which all sold between $5,800 - $12,250, excluding the "project" which sold for only $1K.

    https://bringatrailer.com/search/?s=1985+Honda+VF1000R

For the '86 year, which this one is:

1 previous B.a.T. auction which ended about 2 years ago for $10,500.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-honda-vf1000r-3/

    =============

Seems the seller might do well on B.a.T. with this offering. B.a.T. buyers seem to be attracted to iconic sport bikes to the point where bidding can get up there!
