Well, Today I test rode the '99 that I asked about inspecting in another post. The appearance condition was not as good as I'd expected. The bike was dirty, the sprockets and kickstand were oily, the whole tail section was loose (?). But oh what a ride! Mechanically it was very good.

What a great motor! I'm totally impressed by the torque, acceleration and feel of the bike. It "sits" great. I worked it around some parking lot traffic islands and to me it feels alot like my CBR F2 once i get my butt off the seat.

I think I'll keep looking to find one in better condition. I couldn't check the regulator or battery because neither of us knew how to remove the seat. How do you do that?

To remove the seat insert the key in the helmet lock on the left side of the bike and turn it clockwise. Now pull down on an "L" shaped latch behind the helmet lock (it faces the rear tire), pull up on the rear of the seat.

    Hope that helps.

wow, I'm not sure I'd buy a bike from someone who didn't know how to take the seat off his own bike. youd think he would have had to get to the toolkit to adjust the chain at least once.

Dirt and grease clean up easy - if there werent scratches/cracks/dents I don't see why you'd keep looking.
