you know we are straying off topic a bit, but I just recently bought a Shoei on clearance. My most expensive helmet to date. I really like it, BUT all things being equal, I think my next lid will be a Scorpion. I tried on several of them and I really like them. I like the way you can change the shield even with gloves on, the shield is superflexible, it comes with a self tinting shield. Just lots of good features for a good price, on and fog resistant. Yep, if I had to do it over, I'd have gotten the Scorpion. My dealer just didn't have my size in the style I wanted and I figured if I was gonna do mail order I'd just order a Shoei.

Due to fogging I was ready to replace my Shoei with a Scorpion but Shoei customer service really came through. I explained I wasn't going to spend another $70 on the Pinlock when I felt a quality helmet should already offer this feature (anti-fog). They offered to send me a Pinlock shield with the insert of my choosing. Makes a world of difference!

I had actually ordered a Scorpion EXO-700($170) originally but it went on backorder. When I revisited the m/c shop I tried the Shoei on again and bought it because I felt it fit the contour of my head slightly better than the Scorpion I had ordered. The Scorpion has thicker padding inside. Felt comfy but I've heard it could cause the helmet to loosen up a bit over time. I ordered a Large in the Scorpion but wear a Medium Shoei. The Scorpion EXO-400 I own I bought for my wife. I noticed the shield is more flexibile than the Shoei. I can also tell the Scorpion is heavier although it's one size smaller than my Shoei. I did read the Shoei vented well and was quiet so I spent $130 more for the Shoei RF-1000($300) but have used it for two years and it's still like new.
