Devils advocate:

I had a similar bike for years in that condition when I was growing up. '87 CBR600 that was found in an orange grove and rebuilt pretty much Mad Max style. I loved that bike and I am sure many people said I was an idiot, but when your a broke ass kid, you just gotta keep it running. I bought it for 1k and sold it for 1k after adding 25k mileage.

However, I did not smoke the pipe and think it was worth $3500 and an Italian adventure bike.

 

"Idiot" was for the monumentally stupid ad and asking price. Not for enjoying a bike as you see fit.
