So, the sub-frame on this bike was pretty nice. It was a replacement that my friend bought after he twisted up the original. Rear of the bike was torn apart and not finished, that's when I bought it. And why. He just lost interest. I had another subframe that the holes for the passenger peg ball bearing detents were fucked up on and decided that would be the one I'll use for this bike. Spent hours this week eliminating the majority of the mounts and grinding/shaping/facing what was left and retaining the muffler mounts and an eyelet.

    PXL_20250306_140657082.jpg

Great. So what do I do next? Start on a completely different subframe for this bike! I decided that now THIS subframe would be perfect for the next 86 VFR750F RestoMod that I have been restoring parts for and tucking away. That bike is getting new Kerker slip ons that use the stock muffler mounts very nicely.

The rear Yosh pipes on stock muffler connectors I have created want to sit a little higher. Which is good, because with the welded on mounts before the muffler canisters, they are usually quite long looking.

So pull ANOTHER sub-frame out of the Parts Dept. This one had damage to the left passenger peg tubing / muffler mounts, so it was a perfect candidate for what I wanted to do.

    PXL_20250306_140724458.jpg

I'll create some new struts for where this new system can sit. I have heated, smushed and drilled the remaining sub-frame stubs for new custom struts.

This is how much higher the new mount location will be.

    PXL_20250306_140758971.jpg

Very happy with the angle. It worked perfect combining the rear Yosh sections and the stock connectors with cross-over.

    PXL_20250306_140611020.jpg

Mufflers are repacked. They were pretty rough, so this was not a resto, just cleaned up the canisters with some 3M and shot the pipes with some ceramic high heat paint.

Well, this should do for something you can't see. It was a pretty quick clean up, prep and paint.

    PXL_20250309_161519910.jpg

Mounting stubs cleaned up and radiused.

    PXL_20250309_162948654.jpg

Created the struts a couple nights ago. Radiused, sandblasted and painted them yesterday with the subframe.

    PXL_20250309_162919059.jpg

Got lucky on the weather and didn't have to set up the booth for just a couple pieces. Weather is turning as I type for the next week, so good timing.

Thanks dude. I've been wanting to do this sub-frame mod and custom struts for a few years now. I'm glad I did it on this bike. The Yosh mash-up exhaust was perfectly suited for it.

    Here we go...

    PXL_20250315_005222156.jpg

Seems to be a pretty good pilot. The camera lens angle makes it look off, but somehow I got it perfectly centered on an uneven broken surface. When I moved up to the next size it starting screwing in... pretty easily. OK then. I continued in to see if it was short enough to go all the way out the back. CLOSE... but it ran into the crankcase. So I cleaned up the hole and sprayed some WD40 in there. Got a small reamer just to see if it would have enough bite to back it out.

    PXL_20250315_005315871.jpg

Oh fuck yeah. Time for a Friday cocktail for that one.

Upgrade Kit included a detail. Some Wet Wipes, some old fingernail polish for touch up, Armor All and some Vaseline smeared on the camera lens.

    Came out pretty good.

Rolled it outside for it's first run before the next weather system rolls in.

    PXL_20250323_235829606.jpg

It sounds WICKED good. Throttle response feels perfect. Settles back down to idle nicely. Stoked.

Thank you. It's a plaque made to go on an exhaust canister. I've had an extra one for a while and I thought it was a cool spot for this bike. I added the black Honda mark on top of the original recessed one so it was raised (and black) like the HRC/Yosh plaque.
