    Haven't you negatively affected the rigidity? Those certral verticals look very thin, and curious why you might keep the top "L?"I would think that would just tear pants and scratch fenders.

    The overall rigidity is rock solid, FWIW.

    I'm not quite finished yet with the chock cut out. For now though it's fine for my needs.

    The plan for the top rail is to bolt on another piece of L stock when not using the chock, as follows......

    I'm over finishing the U-bolt install on my trailer and this jacked up 4x4 truck rolls by towing a trailer and a couple John Deere mowers. He ends up backing the trailer into one of the same sized units as mine about 6 units down. I'm busy doing my thing - but I always take a peek at stuff happening around me - if only for a few seconds enough to stay on top of things. I mean - you never know.

    So he finishes up and is driving back past my unit and I hoist a friendly wave to him - you know - just to be friendly...and he stops and says something to the effect "Quite a collection you have going there!" I reply - "Pull on over....I'll give you a tour!"

    So he does and we have some conversation and then he tells me "I've been in motorsports my whole life. My father is Roger Edmondson...former CEO of AMA, etc etc...and his Mom I guess is still involved in it somehow.

    This guy also has a drag bike - he showed me the photo. Sucker is 11' long! Quarter mile in 4+ seconds! We swap trailer stuff stories and it's just good stuff.

    This fellow also takes care of the maintenance for my dermatologist, who has like 11 offices all over the state. Said he has a man lift in his storage unit. Shared a story about once trading a Harley for an airplane, back when he lived in Ga. He said he just picked up a '75 HD flat track bike himself, when I showed him my new VF500F.

    So he left and I finished up the work I wanted to do and now am all ready to pick up Matt's (Cold Devil's) bike tomorrow! :)

    I like this thread for a strange reason. I am a fool for trailers and think everyone should have one, even a relic like mine. When I looked back I decided I need to show you all that I changed that original puffy seat on the Nighthawk. I never paid much attention to the NH and my roommate had a new one in College. I found this 5 years ago when the original owner was selling it. Its is small and fun. So '80's. And I can't go anywhere without an Old Man telling me about his old Honda. Its cool. Sorry for the diversion...

    Here are the U-bolts I installed today. 4 on each corner plus 2 smaller ones in the center. Should be all I need along with the new chock.

    Any opinions of using a Canyon Dancer on these Interceptors?

    I read that you have to be careful on bikes with clip-on handlebars.

    You could still use one - just be careful not to over tighten the ratchets, right?

    I carry a set of Canyon Dancers in my track day kit...just in case, but always just tie with soft ties to the handlebars. Fits on everything everytime. The CDs pull the grips all over the place.

    OK thanks. I had planned to use figure 8's on the front forks to secure the front and the rear side brackets for the back w/ratchet straps on all 4. With my new chock I should be fine.

    Just heard some good things about the dancers so wanted some input, which you provided. Thanks, bmart!

    Everyone finds the system that works for them. I have a lot of bikes of my own and friends', so having something like the PitBull restraints just doesn't work. I've had to rescue others when their bikes died or were crashed. Straps and soft ties always work.

    One thing I will add is I decided to buy a whole new set of ratchet straps to use for picking Matt's bike up yesterday. Daytona isn't a far drive at all, but with the new chock and U-bolt setup, I wanted to keep going in my quest for a better transport setup.

    The straps I purchased are wider and a thicker material than the ones I had been using - in other words heavier. I didn't realize how much better these were until I actually used them. Man what a difference! They also came with a set of "figure 8" loops.

    $60 on Amazon

    I thought I'd have to use 2 more straps in the back but after securing the front 2 it just seemed like that was enough. I went over the triple tree. The one over the seat was to secure the seat and tail/side fairing which were not completely fastened in place. I felt it also helped secure the bike overall, too.

    If I were driving further I would have added 2 more in the back. I think I'm also going to rig a strap up to loop through the front wheel for added security.

    Careful when using ratcheting straps. They can be easily WAY overtightened.
