Goodevening Gents, I’ve recently acquired myself a VFR 750 from 1987 RC24. I’ve had it running, changed the batteries and checked most of the things. I decided to clean out the carburetors since they haven’t been done in ages. Anyways, i got everything off and started. Came to realise that one of the Tee connections that feeds fuel to the carburetors was cracked clean. i got everything loose and recently had a very friendly guy ultrasonic clean my carburetors… 3 of the 4 were done very well and don’t have really any stains or minor oxidation on them. But the last one has some white chalky surface on it… Also it feels rougher in & out then the other 3. Might this be the occurence of a heavy oxidization? if so, is this bad for my carburetor, can it still be treated one way or the other? I’ll put the pictures in below… thanks for your time everyone!
Hi Jenko, So yes that would be oxidation. Weird that it only happened to one side of the carburetors. Maybe your guy forgot to rinse this side or had these laying around longer? But no worries. Just clean the surfaces with something like a red or green 3M abbrasive pad until the surface is clean no crud can make it's way into the carburetor and you are good to go. You can always spray some protective film (b.e. silocone spray) on the aluminium if you want. Good luck!
