Looking for a quality Decal set for my "about to be painted Red, White and Blue" '86 VFR 750 Interceptor.
Seems they are hard to find down under in Australia because we never recieved that color scheme here but I like it and have chosen that color layout and am now searching for Decals.
    Any help much appreciated.
I did order a set for my Pearl white '86 from a "suposedly" US web site and then received the decals from Malta, stuffed inside a small cylinder with all the backing film becoming detatched so don't want that experience again. No doubt if the cylinder was of suitable diameter this may not have been a problem? Or was it just crap film in the first place? Hence, I look for a "quality" product.

I have ordered multiple times from Honda-Decals.com (pretty sure this is the Malta you are referring to), and the first thing I do is get my biggest Honda coffee table book and start pressing them, sometimes even peeling some of the backing and re-laying it down. Not ideal I completely agree.

While a lot of their stuff is not exact reproductions, they have worked with me a lot to do custom / tweaked graphics and I have been pretty happy.

The only place I could have recommended for true replicas and high quality, no longer produces the VFR sets. CB Decals.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Captain 80's
You are much wiser than I in these matters and I note you have only been able to source thought the Malta connection.
Do you suppose they are open to requesting flat pack on stiff cardboard for an additional fee, or in a decent diameter tube?

I am amazed that nobody now makes a kit that complies to the original design, and that CB Decals say they can no longer get the materials.
What does that even mean about this industry? ...... I thought the good ol' USA would have them for sure, but then COVID has turned the world upsidedown

My search continues, one private message from a forum member has offered a set they have, I have asked some questions and await a reply

No reason not to inquire about alternative packaging. Once I started dealing with a (the?) designer the communication was responsive and reasonable. He even would print out proofs and send me pics for approval. And (seemingly) had no problem re-doing something as weren't quite on the same page on one of them.

Be very careful about someone magically reaching out at the perfect time with exactly what you need. How long have they been a member? How many posts do they have? Did they ask you to contact them thru email right from the start? Is it "someone they know" who has the decals?

Search the term "scammer" and see if their username pops up in mentions. The scammers seem to protest once when confronted but then fade away when asked to expand on anything specific about their personal bike or connection to VFRs.

I too have used the "Malta Connection" a number of times with good results. I also lay them out flat as soon as received. When applying, you pull away from the backing in any case, and when applied wet they smooth right out. No issues on my end.

I was also surprised when CB Decals stopped offering the r/w/b. They had a good product.

I haven't tried them, but what about these guys?

I have seen those before and thought they looked accurate from the examples. They offer quite a few decal kits for many makes and models. Positive reviews when you dig down for decal set purchases. I think it would still take a "I ordered and they are perfect" from somebody I trusted for me to pull the trigger tho.

Or maybe find their cheapest item that I could still use to see how they are.

All good information thanks, just now I am pursuing a couple of Australian possible suppliers, though their catalogue does not include what I seek, they asked me to send a photo so they could check their template inventory which is larger than the catalogue would indicate (?)
A very large difference between the AU - US exchange rate, plus high mail cost from US makes local purchase the best option - if available
I shall keep looking and all this info can only enhance my options, so muuch appreciated

Oh yeah... I forgot about him. I have a few solo seat cowl decals from BD. Quality and accuracy.

The original decal is old and UV changed and my phone camera misrepresents reds sometimes in certain light conditions. The red on the decal is a good match to an original Fighting Red.

Thanks for your help guys, finally found a local decal printer with the patterns and have given them an order to print a set for me. They are close enough that I am able to pick up the results and bring them home, so no damage in the post like the last set of decals I purchased.

Along the journey I discovered an annomally in my logic. Though the original print design was on the '86 R/W/B USA release including the name INTERCEPTOR, I always planned to do this layout on an'89 model - and they have quite a difference in the vent layout on the side panel. This means less space to fit the decals to the point I needed to reduce the size of the decals in this area somewhat, though not changed their "letter" form.
The red and blue of the stripes will be painted in their entirety, thus making the decals with no backgroundred as part of their manufacture.
As I have also applied a few cosmetic design changes (half seat, waterproof hinged top opening tail box, Japanese domestic market front turn indicators, removal of pillion foot pegs, custom all SS mufflers, etc.)
Recently I decided to re-name my Honda VFR 750 model as a "Clubman" just to differentiate the bike from the original Interceptor, which was never brought into Australia by Honda.
I believe there may now be genuine 750 Interceptors existing here that have subsequently been imported second hand from the USA.
I will post a photo when the job is done for anyone interested in a mild custom VFR :)

Very interesting in seeing it. Both along the way and of course a final product. Sounds cool.

I want the story of how and what "Due to specific materials" actually means from CB Decals for the VFR700F decal kit. There's gotta be a story there. There are plenty of other Hondas with similar RWB decal sets that haven't been discontinued. They make a really nice product and are nice to work with. I used them on my VF500F set.

    upload_2025-2-5_9-36-41.png

Maybe the "Specific materials .." isn't red, white, or blue vinyl at all. Maybe the specific materials was the computer where the file was stored got struck by lightning and there wasn't a backup of the design files.

The "red" on many of the other kits, like the VF1000F, is not the same red. A good match for Fighting Red might be hard for some reason. And when you are advertising faithful reproduction kits, close ain't gonna cut it. Seeing as the Blue and White is the same in other kits, that very well might be the issue.

I stumbled across vinyl in metallic pearl red that is very close to a perfect match for CANDY ALAMOANA RED on the VF1000F.
