Each bike is getting something on both sides of that color. The 95 more subtle and the 92 more bold than I have done before. Also, Summer Blonde is very hard to replicate.

EDIT: I think I just decided the opposite of what I just said... hmmmmmm.

If you ever tell yourself, "That Honda wheel is pretty hammered. I'll just strip the shitty paint job and the original finish down to aluminum for my paint job."

Take a ball peen hammer and thwap yourself in the balls... twice. One for each side of the wheel.

    THAT
    FUCKING
    SUCKED

Aircraft Ultra Paint Remover took all afternoon. The real shit that smells like death. Six separate applications with scraping every time. There is STILL some primer in some corners. But it is done. Hand sanded and cleaned. Etching primer next.

    Saturday Night!! Par-tay.

    PXL_20250105_020854079.jpg

Wife is recovering from a cold, so I'm the inner shop wet sanding the front wheel. At least it's warm in here and doesn't smell like paint stripper.

The nastier the Stripper the better I always said. We got some real nice aviation stink fest epoxy paints we use, full face respirator along with half a haz-mat suit, I cut them at the waist. Looks impressive and people think I am smarter than I am. Nice Job.

Kind of a bronze-gold-grey final color. Gonna really pop on this bike.

The final color coat (and clear) was a slightly different formula than I usually shoot wheels with and has a tad bit more "thinner". A little bit of base color bleed thru on the rear wheel as I think I got a little heavy handed when laying my final color coats and started "re-activating" the base. The outer lip has a slightly more bronze hue to it. After contemplating all day (and all night in dreams), I decided to not be my normal idiot self and try to "fix" it. They look really damn good, the clear coat finish is really nice and the bike is not perfect anyway. A couple miles down the road, chain fling and road grime will rectify the non-problem easily.

Install the tires, balance, move on and enjoy.

And I figured out (with a nudge form mello dude) what I'm doing for color on the 95 when I was shooting the base color.

It won't be that bold. I will start with a Graphite base color and then with the clear it should be subdued and look really striking on this...

OH... and... cleaning / prepping / painting 6/8 spoke Honda wheels...

    SUCKS
    REINDEER
    BALLS

On top of just a miserable (but great looking) design regarding cleaning (and prepping), there is so much overlap when trying to get paint/color into all of the spokes/corners it's very hard to control paint distribution.

Eight. The Summer Blonde wheel you commented on about the color is the wheel for the 95.
