This would be really funny (bit pathetic, but funny), if it turns out Pavlina is innocent, and it's actually a stunt from the book authors to drive up hits.

I've never seen this particular variant of spam tactics before. I'll be curious to see what the results are (someone will figure out what really happened).

In an effort to help keep this site awesome I wanted to bring to your attention to an email I received about a PM originating from this site. As soon as I saw it I knew it was spam but the crazy thing is my PM inbox does not have this message. here's what was sent to me, with full headers-

Sorry for PMing out of the blue. Here's the thing.

I wrote a book with a friend of mine. My husband keeps saying it sucks.
I think he's just jealous tho.

He spends a lot of time on these boards, so I told him I'm going to
pick a random person here, and ask them, and we ended up betting on it.

    So go to http://zenofeller.com/books/asylum/asylum_chapter1_b.html and
make the call. Does it suck?

    Thanks.
    ***************

Again, please do not reply to this email. You must go to the following
page to reply to this private message:

    All the best,
    VFRworld

I think everyone got a copy. I parsed the header of the message, and it was sent from "www-01.angryhosting.com" - not "emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net" as you'll see whenever a legit VFRWorld message comes across. I can't find any record of this person anywhere in the member list either, so it's definitely a case of someone hijacking the member list.
This kind of shite happens all the time - email marketing is my life, and this kind of crap is bad for any reputable marketer.

This reminds me of the time I sent all of my credit card and SSN info to Nigeria since it turns out I am related to a recently deceased King who left me big money!!! Still waiting on that payoff.... shipping all that cash to me must cost a bundle 'cause they are charging an arm and a leg!!

    Funny thing, those spam PM's.
I was on my way to a meeting and called my girl at home to look for a receipt that someone had emailed me. I ask her to check my email and she asks me "Who is Erin Pavlina and why is she PM-ing you?". Not being overly suspicious, when I told her I didn't know she believed me.
Thanks for the quick work Michael.

I was feeling pretty darn special there for a minute or two. I like the "jealous husband" line.
