Yes Capt all cams have offset lobes but with the cam gear in place it' compressing the valves. I suppose I could drill new holes in the cam gear and forget about the alignment marks and just align it visually.

Not sure I understand what you are trying so say.

    Oof. No. Just no.

I suspect something got mixed up between engines or installed/timed incorrectly. Or a combo of the two. But to be honest, I really don't know for sure, as the pics and descriptions are not helping.

OK here let me show you . This is a view of about where the cam should be.
    Left Front

    Right front

There is plenty of space to adjust the valves.

No. That is wrong and not how/where the cams should be to adjust the valves. I still can't say whether your cams are timed properly, but I can say your method for positioning the cams for adjusting lash is wrong.

Show me where in the SM is states to use any "T" mark to adjust the valves on an 86. 84/85 use the "TR" and "TF" marks on the flywheel, but that is still not necessary if you note when the cam lobes are opposite to the rockers.

I'm too tired to do anymore today but tomorrow I'll probably pull the cam out and take pictures of the T1 mark and all the other cam positions. Thanks for helping out :)

Marks on the cam sprockets are for cam installation and timing. Not for position for checking valves.

S-Man, both the VTR250 and the VF500F /C have those same weird spiral wind "threads" on the head bolts.

Pure speculation but they may have something to do with how much the bolt "yields" under tension. Like when you torque them down.

Many head bolts are a one time use only design, but if you can't get new ones you use the old ones! I am not sure how much the stretch anyway at the low torque needed for the. Just 10 cents worth, LOL.

You have to host it somewhere (like uploading to YouTube), then you can use the "Share" button to get a link to embed.

    And good job.

I think it is because you created a YouTube "Short", not a Video.

Not necessarily the actual "length". How it was created in the first place. You can see right in your link

Sounds pretty good and crisp throttle response. I like how it settles right back down into an idle too.

    That's gotta feel good.
