"a" service manual, not "the" Service Manual. Better than nothing for a start.

Keep on going! Thing's gonna be (is) cool.

Evaporust to the rescue! IMG_1402.jpg IMG_1401.jpg put a bunch of nuts and bolts in there and shook the hell out of it!! knocked it all loose then put sone fresh product and let it do its thing, rinsed it all out and it looks like this!!! The most difficult part was getting all the nuts and bolts out? a good strong magnet works well. Now I am going to seal it with the Por-15 Fuel Tank Sealer.

I might need to do this evapo-rust. How much do you recommend for a typical fuel tank? Can you re-use it?

yes, you can reuse it up to like four times, depending how bad it is. you should try and fill it, but you can use chain, nuts and bolts to take up space too. I heard of one guy that was successful using bicycle inner tubes and inflated them to fill up the tank like that?

Glad it worked out on your tank, Link...very nice!

So far, I've refrained from using any nuts and bolts, etc....due to concerns about getting them all back out again. The way the two openings on the tank have inner lips makes it impossible to "pour" anything out, other than a larger volume of material. I've heard using a small section of chain kinda does the same thing and easier to remove.

For me - just the ER and sticking my power washer wand in and blasting away in between soak and rinse sessions worked well enough.

I'm also reluctant to do any coating for fear of some kind of peeling away issue down the road.

I'm not an expert and still way down on the learning curve, so just posting my thoughts on the subject in case it's of any interest.

okay, to be quite honest, I was seriously debating wether or not to use the tank liner!
after finishing getting all the rust out, cleaning the tank thoroughly I found several very small pinholes on the top side of it.
    IMG_1405.jpg IMG_1406.jpg
so that decided it, use the POR-15 fuel tank sealer that I had already purchased!
the stuff actually works great, I stirred it up for about 5 min. and carefully poured it in after plugging the tap opening.
then taping the filler extremely well, I sloshed it all around by just constantly moving it in my hands for about 45 min. coating EVERY surface inside.
drained the small amount that remained out of the tap on the bottom and let it sit.
I am happy with it, looks very good... IMG_1407.jpg
