4th Gen Aftermarket Petcock Installed.

I finally got around to installing the new petcock, here's a few photos so you can see the fit and finish, which is superb.

It is indeed a Pingel. Pricey but well worth it. My original had sat for many years and a hole corroded through it and the orings were toast. I found one used on on ebay that, while functioning, also leaked. So...I made a handful of mounting plates with 3/8 npt holes so I could install a quality rebuildable unit like the Pingel pictured above. Done and Done.

 

I bought just a mounting plate to future proof myself. It is sweet.

And here is the steering damper mocked up. It's a tight fit but it does the job.

 

Did you put a zip-tie on your left fork to see how far your fork lower normally travels up the tube?

This is mine with .95 RaceTech springs, proper oil height and pre-load. You can see the marks for how far it was going during normal riding and then that being the extreme, likely a bump during hard braking.



You can also see how far it went before adjusting the oil height and preload to get proper sag numbers after the initial set-up and break in.

Yes, and you raise a good point...for each rider the install will be a bit different and you should adjust accordingly.
