Hey guys, new VFR8X owner here.
Im not new to motorcycles, but i am relativly inexperienced when it comes to owning / performing maintenance on a slightly older bike. I'v basically only had "new" machines, and never owned them long enough for "real" maintenance to be required.
Thats changed with my new VFR8X, 2015 model with 16k miles on it. (still very new i realize)

I have SO much time this winter, so i plan to really get it ready for some big trips this spring/summer. I'd really like to hear what you people would suggest that i do to it, other than clean it etc. I'v got new oil / filtre in it ofc.
Battery hooked to a tender, fresh brake/clutch fluid/coolant, and i plan on new sparkplugs + air filtre. (its sat still for a while) so these are just things i do for my own peace of mind really. I will not be performing valve check i'v decided. Engine sounds good and startup is instant. It will be a project for next winter. Should that cause issues thats just on me, this is a hobby kind of deal, i have a car that takes me to/from work.
Do you guys have any tips/tricks / ideas for things i should do now that i have the time? Im aiming to make it "as new" and fresh as i realistically can. Also new chain / brakepads / front discs are already mounted. Maybe an akrapovic end can, but i really dont mind the stock to be honest.

Grateful for any input you throw my way, and thanks for your time.

Obligatory pic! (i will be fitting a tall but slimmer windscreen from ermax soon)

Sounds OK to me, the only other thing is to put fuel stabilizer or Seafoam in the fuel and run it for a bit.

I wish they'd brought that bike over here, I'd have had one in a heartbeat.....

Guess im on the right path then, good to know haha.
I’v decided that i want to put new fluid in the forks aswell, i did this on my V-Strom, and even after 10k miles the oil had actually degraded quite a bit. So shouldnt cause harm anyway.

the 800x really is a sweet platform, unreal that they did not bring it stateside.
