This is the party / pit bike, 1985 Z50R. Well it's been up on the shelves for a few years. Don't have the yard anymore and haven't raced in a few years. BUT... we recently moved the business I work for to an industrial park with big, private parking lots. Time for the wheelie machine to come out of retirement for some lunch time fun before winter.

The tubes aged out and rotted apparently. So serviced the K&N and sourced some new tubes.

    STOKED!

Oh yeah... New tubes installed. Also rebuilt the petcock. Had to drill off the aluminum rivets, drill and tap holes in the remnants to rebuild the petcock. Went thru the carb and installed a new float bowl oring and new orings for the intake. Serviced the K&N. It rips again!

I know the owner of the two houses North of me on the same side of the street. They are adult care homes and they are both empty right now with connected horseshoe driveways. You know what that meant... TEST TRACK!

I didn't want to stop and it was getting dark when I finally did. I snapped this pic in my yard before heading back to the shop.

Had one of those around 1972 I think. K&N on it- why? Trying to get that tiny eng. to breathe? :High5:

First year of the R was 79 I think.

And absolutely. And it does help. Also you can pull the exhaust tip and remove a section that forces a restricted route that also helps. It runs REALLY FUCKING good and I can wheelie as long as I want to. Even snatch 2nd in the wheelie, but that is an adanced maneuver on a semi-automatic.

I had one (used) in 1978, it was a rigid rear suspension, dunno what year it was, I'm sure it was originally dark metallic green, and I painted it blue.....I guess the writing was on the wall, even back then
