    Hello All,

    First of all let me say thanks for this amazing forum and the wealth of knowledge you all share here!

    I'm doing an overall tune up on a 1992 VFR from a friend, nothing very deep, basically clutch discs, fork oil, brakes, engine oil change, filters, etc.
    The bike ran fine into my garage. Then I had to remove the tank to adjust the cables of the fuel petcock and, after that, it just won't start.

    I decided to ask for some ideas here before I really tear it apart.

    So what did I check so far:

    • Battery is fine, fully charged;
    • Fuel pump is fine, I disconnected the fuel line and it pumps gas alright;
    • If I spray a bit of "starting spray" (I use the one from Liqui Moly) it will start, but only run on the spray.
    But now that I write this, I actually don't know if that spray really needs a spark to ignite or if it will do it on compression alone. I haven't pulled out a plug to check for spark because when it started with the spray I assumed it had spark.

    So that might be it I guess...

    Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

    It needs spark to ignite anything.

    It sounds like it not getting fuel and who was the last person messing around with the supply of it? Time to re-check your work CLOSELY. Sounds like something got mis-routed, unplugged, kinked, etc when you were performing the service.

    If you crack a carb drain screw, does fuel come out? In other words, are the carbs even getting fuel?

    Pull an easy spark plug (rear) and check for spark just for giggles.

    Fuel, spark and compression. Don't think you lost compression doing an oil change.

    Then you can move on to troubleshooting other things.

    Non US models have a fuel selector on the left side of the upper cowl that operates the petcock via cables.

    A lot of people install an analog voltmeter in the plugged hole location.
