With the cold weather comes time to reflect. I like my VFR but the time for a change may be approaching in the next year or two. In a perfect world I would own about 7 bikes, but since I can't justify this at the moment I need to settle on closer to two. Here are my choices: '94-'97 VFR750 '03-04 SV650 06-'07 C50T '05-'07 VFR800ABS '04 Z1000 ZZR-600 ZX-11 ZZR-1200 FZR600 VTR1000F As you can see my list has both a lot of variety and a lot of similarity. I currently have a '99 VFR800 and a '97 YZF750.
I'd just take your 99 VFR if you're not gonna be needing it. And then, I'd cancel the mods I was plannin on mine.
You can give me your YZF750 to make room in your garage. I promise I'll take good care of it! Out of your choices, I'd pick the Z1000. They're "vibey" tho - afflicted with tingly grips. The VTR1000's are great bikes, but limited fuel range - the V-Twins are thirsty. I have several friends with them. On a spirited ride they'll get not much more than 100 miles out of a tankful; 160ish miles riding frugally. I'm also a BIG fan of way-too-much horsepower, so the ZX11 or ZZR12 would be way fun! They're honking big SOB's tho'. I get tired of manhandling that much horseflesh around all day. It comes back to the Z1k for me out of your list. All the power you could need, comfy riding position, fun in the twisties but not too big.
I've said it B-4 & I'll say it again  Get a street legal SuperMoto & have a light weight flickable canyon ride that will smoke must sportbikes, great city comuter, can ride on the Kart tracks as well as the road course tracks, get the extra 21 front wheel & dirt tyre, & a extra dirt tyre for the 17 rear rim & have a bike that can go anywhere. That makes a SM = 8 bikes (street bike/canyon runner/commuter/dirt bike/road course/kart-supermoto track/dual sport/sport tourer(600 or bigger bore) . So keep your 2 bikes & add a SM & you can have 10 bikes with room left in your garage. Who said there wasn't a do all bike, was wrong in my book
Hey Reg you'd have to go through me first, I have first dibs.. Notice that first line, Good choice my man.
All things being what they are that 1098 is looking mighty nice, but then I read and have rode it's smaller cousin the Hypermotard but even after all that, I'm so happy with what I have, so Hmm what can one do..???? Lust?
Tough problem, ain't it ? The things I want from a motorcycle just don't seem to exist in one bike - I like the sit low/go slow feeling of cruisers, the torque of big sportbike displacement and the ability to strafe corners occassionally. hoto:
Trust me, you won't like the Z1000. I put a whole 1200 miles on a new '06 and promptly sold it. Absolutely no umph until about 7K rpm, major engine buzz, suspension to stiff, vague feeling front end and generaly just uncomfortable. Now the revised model I understand is better but still lacks big bore low end grunt. I like the idea of a newer VFR.
Did not see this recommendation, but yes this one should be on your list. I would mind having one, cost is close to a new VFR and performance is better. Would put risers on her and it would be very similar to VFR.
From your list I'd stick with your '99. Why would you want to go from FI to carbs? If you're just wanting a change, change big and try a new Busa.
Ain't that the truth, for me it would be a 450lb 125-160 HP V4 with good suspension & brakes with the egro's of my 99 :hungry:
Well a Hawk GT650 would take care of 2 of the requirements, it just don't have the ponies of a bigger sportbike motor though, but a great city commuter & canyon carver. If you don't mind sitting a little taller, a SuperHawk, or a BlackBird with heli-bars would be damn close to your requirements
these seem like the bikes at the edges. '03-04 SV650 06-'07 C50T So you need to decide if you want more of the same or variety then go ride'em when you find'em. The right one will club you on the head and force you to ride them back to your cave, er garage.
