Another nice condition RC36 on B.a.T.!

The 7 day 'no reserve' auction just started with no bids so far. Let's see what this baby brings!

FYI: I see carb. was work done a year ago to the tune of $560.95.

Also the selling party is a dealer but no dealer fees:

    Great looking machine!

    We're off to a good start...$1,770!

Was reading some of the comments and one of them mentioned the missing rear turn signals.

Hmmm....I thought those were integrated into the tail light assembly.

I did some digging and looks like they ARE missing.

But I don't think they came on my '90.

Anyone know the story on these signals - different on the 2 years '90 and '91?

    Thanks!

All years of the RC36-I (90-93) in the US came with additional rear turn signals on dumb brackets with reflectors and stupidly long stalks for the USDOT.

The rest of the world used the integrated rear turn signals in amber. The US spec red lenses had plugs in the bulb socket which you removed and installed the socket from the removed extra winkers.

I went to Germany in the early 90s and brought back a set of the amber integrated lenses and sold them for a very nice profit. Then they came back in on a trade in, so I removed them and installed the red lenses and re-sold them. I did that 2 times! And then the 94 VFR came out with the amber lenses and the gig was up.

I wired in some front signal sockets on my 92 and the red lenses are running lights and turn signals.

OK thanks, Capt......I never knew about all this so very helpful!

I think mine just has the blinkers inside the red lenses....nothing amber.....so a previous owner must have removed the US Spec stalks and put the bulbs inside those two outer lenses.....

Also....a couple interesting comments from B.a.T. member Joexray77:

Two notes if anyone wants to get this even closer to original spec. The windscreen is missing the HONDA decal that goes on the lower front edge, not seen in pics 38/39. It’s part number 64207-MT4-300ZA. No longer available from Honda but worth searching. Also it’s missing the rear turn signals, though the factory signal stays are in place which is good. That signal style was used from 1986 through the early 90s on various models including the RC30. They’re not easy to find new but they are out there. Also, this bike is an original CA-spec bike with a 1 in the 8th digit of the VIN and still shows signs of the full air valve system and exhaust port plumbing, pic 36.

I’m confident this listing will further bring out the love for the gear-driven VFRs of the 3rd, 4th and 5th gens. I have that love and own at least one of each gen, including an identical, one-owner 1991 VFR750F with 1,192 original miles. The build quality at this time for Honda was off the charts, particularly the V-four bikes which included the HRC-built RC30. Lots of people like the 1990 variant for the Ross White wheels, but the 1991 got 1-year only Summer Blonde Metallic wheels (color code YR129M) which look stunning, particularly on the 8-spoke rear. The seat color was also unique and called Princess Gray (color code NH101L). It’s near impossible to recover correctly, and looks to be in great shape on this bike. Yes @sixdaywar the rear seat cowl would be nice, as it really gives the bike a much sportier look, including its Princess Gary cowl pad. I have a NOS one for my bike. The full kit is part number 08F74-MY7-130 for reference searching. It’s been obsolete a long time and the rear pad is the hardest part to find. Good luck with the sale. The future owner will get a timeless example that’s just coming into its own in the collector market. And with 19,000 on this one, the new owner can certainly enjoy hearing that gear-driven cam whine. Even better sounding with the stock pipe as shown here.
