    We mourn your loss Capt.

Sweet ride Six. I tried to pick one up in Vegas, but just couldn't get the price in my park. Besides, the Duc was a screaming deal in the end. :)
We just go back from a 50 mile jaunt on Hawk and NSR250. So fun. It was gray and chilly, but fun anyway. Hawk is running better every day and clutch kit should be here Wednesday.

It seems that the Hawk will gain an instant 2k in revs in 5th gear once it gets past 3.5k-4k revs at full throttle. I hope that is the friction plates acting up.

I am still new to 2 stroke, but should the throttle effort be similar to everything else. I would imagine so, but just double checking because the throttle on the NSR is fooking heavy. Worst of all the bikes. Maybe time to run new cables?

HAWK: It is the clutch from what you describe, for sure.

NSR: But the throttle snaps back if you release and doesn't hang?

Are they strictly mechanical or vacuum?

    Hawk- yay!

It does snap back and I would need to dig to understand if they have vacuum. I assume mechanical, but I will do some digging.

I will pull the tank and assembly this weekend. It appears the previous owner zip tied the choke cable to the end of the cable housing as well. image.jpg

Was going to get a duplicate key made for my first Interceptor - the Yellow '87 RC26. I only have one key for it and it doesn't have a code scribed/stamped onto it. As you know.....key codes are stamped into all three locks...ignition, fuel cap, and helmet lock.

I started to remove the helmet lock but dang thing's nuts are spot welded on and there's no top to the fastener I can get to so went to the fuel cap and viola!

So my key code is A21, the last 3 digits.

It also looks like this key is cut on both sides.....something not always done, I think.

Deer scare the hell out of me. Last weekend was a bad weekend for deer in both the Midwest and Southeast for club racing. A couple riders got injured by hitting them during races. One in ASRA at Blackhawk and one at a WERA event at CMP.

At CMP, a rider hit a deer and got injured pretty bad. I think she ended up with a dislocated pelvis from what I read, but I wasn't there. At Blackhawk Farms, a rider hit a deer at I'm guessing 95mph leading to T2 and got helicoptered out. That one hit real close because it was right in front of me, but I didn't see it. I had just been given first call on my first race of Sunday. If you're not familiar with club sprint races, they fire them off like every 15-20 minutes. So when the current race hits halfway, you get first call for the next one and start getting ready if you're up. I'd gotten first call and had just started putting on all my gear, earplugs, airbag, etc. when everything went kinda quiet and people started running towards the fence near me. One of those fucking things had jumped out in front of a rider and he literally split it into two pieces. He's "okay" now, but it was scary as hell. It'll be a long road to recovery. Bike was demolished and some bad bone breaks. I didn't realize it was the guy pitted two spots down from me until the crash truck dropped the bike off later in the day.

I felt super weird going up to the fence maybe 60 minutes later because I don't want to be one of those gawkers (we were waiting on helicopter). But I also knew they were laying a ton of oil dry out there and dragging a tire and I was starting on the front row for the next race, so I wanted to know what the track looked like. It turns out they did a great job prepping the track after the issue. It was only like halfway through my first race I started noticing you could sort of see the "V" shape that the two deer halves painted like a 50-75' blood stain. My family is already pretty unnerved about me racing, and of course my brother and his wife show up as the helicopter is landing and I'm putting my earplugs back in because I know I'm up as soon as that thing takes off.

In short, fuck those delicious and adorable creatures.

That's the closest I've been to one. It started from behind that pole...which is the same color. Still, I managed to drop nearly 10 MPH safely in no time. It certainly could have been uglier! I could have reached out and touched it. Those GoPro lenses make everything look much farther away.

CMP is notorious for deer (and turtles, snakes, birds, etc). Years ago, a riding buddy clipped a rear hoof there as the rest of the deer JUST made it by on the FAST back straight. I was right behind him. Super scary. I can't believe that they don't have much higher fences around racing facilities. And that pond...
