Weird question here. Does anyone know the best way to break in a new pear of race gloves? They are just too stiff I don't have good break or clutch control. Maby you can oil them down like a ball glove? Please help!

If you are in a big hurry, leather conditioner and throw 'em in the dryer on low heat. Don't tell the wife.

Or just leather conditioner. Go to a farm/ranch supply store for some good stuff.

If gloves are too tight in the store, well, there gonna be too tight on the bike. Thats why I have to try on any gear before I put my bucks down.
    No internet deals for me.........

    Good luck

Soak them in water (seriously) for a few minutes.
Let 'em dry at room temperature until still moderately damp but no longer dripping.
Apply copious amounts of leather conditioner (I like Lexol).
*the moisture in the leather draws the conditioner into the pores
Wait 1/2 hour or so and apply more conditioner.
Wear them for an all day ride while still slightly damp.

Condition again when almost dry - as soon as you get home.

Let dry overnite at room temperature.

Reapply leather conditioner every couple of months, or immediately after a good soaking ride in the rain.

I have a pair of 25-year-old Hein Gericke leather winter gloves (red V-Pilot) that are soft as a baby's butt and look like new.
Many, many miles, including a LOT of rain over the years.

I use Lexol for everything leather, and even that imitation leather that many riding boots are made from (various names).

I wear them to break them in. Getting them wet and covering in some conditioner MAY not be good for them as far as wear resistance and safety. I also replace my race gloves every season or after a crash where they get damaged at all. Street gloves I treat differently as I don't expect to NEED them on a routine basis.

Rat's method is the fastest path to changing the way your glove fit your fingers, but won't help if they are too big or are synthetic. Write a review when you're done - Thanks.
